I was reading upon it and noticed black licorice has anti-inflammitory and heals ulcers but I also heard it has similar side effect as prednisone.  Has anyone tried?

I heard it's suppose to help you "go" too, I actually love black licorice, of all kinds, the ones from dutch are nice and salty and have a potent flavor.

I find each and everyone who has Crohn's Disease has different allergies to food and meds. I have tried Licorice and it does not like me at all ......
I do not eat any red meats or Milk products or spicy foods ..
Bananna's and Yoqurt have helped me for a long time ......
I have crohn's since 1972 and I am very tired of it ...... lol
I have lost weight again and need to gain at least 10 more pounds before I can

I LOVE black licorice - I was always the weird kid who ate all the black jelly beans. My favorite candies are Good and Plenty's and Panda brand black licorice. I haven't heard about any anti-inflammatory properties - but it would great to know!

I can notstand the smell or flavor of black licorice...CT scan once with drinking the licorice flavored drink and tossing it up all over the hospital!!!

But, aside from that I love cherry licorice. problem is it really attacks my guts. I feel worse whenever I eat it. of course all those things that are supposed to "settle" your stomach bother me - ginger, licorice etc.
Dx'd '90 (emergency rupture), symptoms ignored long before that, '03 fistulas and bad flagyl reactions, B12 weekly, Pentasa [until I surrender to the bigger meds]
