I know everyone is probably sick of me, but you all have such good advice. Here is some more food for thought. What do you know about acupuncture? I actually want to try it for my migraines becuase I get them every two weeks and with my CD meds and migraine meds I am spending a fortune at the pharmacy and still getting them. I can deal with CD pain, but it puts me over the top dealing with CD and migraines. What do you think? Is it worth the money?

I see an acupuncturist for my joint pain. But each time I go, he asks about my whole being, and treats me for all aspects of my health. I started because my Rhuemy couldn't do anything for my joints, med wise, everything was bad for my CD. So he reccommended acupuncture. I really didn't think it would work, not a big believer in the whole thing. BUT, it does help. It isn't cheap though. So if you are looking for a cheaper alternative to the meds, I'm not sure this is it. Unless you can find a clinic or school.

My acupuncturist just opened a clinic and the cost went down significantly. But before that, it was really expensive and my insurance doesn't cover it.

He hasn't really treated me for headaches, but he has treated me for sinus/cold/congestion stuff and it has been helpful. So if you can find someplace that is reasonable cost wise, give it a try. Its a lot less invasive than most of the stuff we have to go through.

Thanks! I know it's not cheap, but I figure if it helps I might as well try it. Especially if I don't have to miss work. I'll let you know how it goes.

my insurance covers it and I love it. I would think for headaches it would be a big help.

Just a question..............where does someone find a reliable accupuncturist? And if I may ask, cost per visit?  Thanks for any answers. You may email me if you would rather not post cost on the boards.

When I first started seeing my guy, he was in the office with my Rhuemy. So I was pretty confident that he was well qualified, but since he only had one bed, he charged $60 per treatment/hour. Now that he has his own clinic, he uses lounge chairs with screens in between, not as private, but he can treat more patients per hour. He charges a sliding scale, whatever you feel comfortable with between $15 and $35 per treatment. This is so that patients can come more often. I go once a week and pay $20.

I know that there is a website that lists qualified trained acupuncturists. I can see if I can get it and post it after my appointment on Friday.

I really have been quite pleased and surprised by acupuncture and encourage people to try it.

I think mine is about $60. I found her through word of mouth and that is my favorite way to find anything.

My guy is my chiropractor and is very into nutrition. I hope he is good. I have only heard great things. I am going on Monday, so I'll let you know. He is $45 per treatment, so we'll see. If it takes my pain away (migraine pain that is) then it is worth the money to me. Especially if I don't have to miss any more work.
