any one heard of hyperbaric therapy for crohn's? supposedly this is is kinda new. a trial study is supposedly going on now in richmond but has a small amount of people. initial results are favorable, so i've been told (i havent seen any data). just curious if any one has tried it or has heard anything about it.

I once read about it quite some time ago. I'm not even sure if Iread it was a theory worth trying or whether it was a small trial being done. And that is the extent of my knowing anything about it at all for Crohn's. It is an interesting concept and I'm glad to hear that there really is at least one small trial being conducted!!

One of our local hospitals has a hyperbaric unit they put in w/in the last few years. My daughter's mother-in-law has been treated there due to her diabetes.

Some people are like Slinkies... Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

CH...is that Richmond VA and do you know what facility is sponsoring the study? Being in the medical insurance world, I like to keep up on these things AND being a long time CDer who is not a fan of meds I like to see alternate options. I do know that hyperbaric treatments can be quite costly from the diabetic claims I have seen. If there are postive results from the small study, I would like to address it with my GI doc who is up on the latest things and see if our local teaching hospital is interested in a study.

yes, richmond, va. i'll try and get some more info on it. you'll have to give me some time though so it may be a while. i'm trying to learn more about this myself. there is a place here in san diego that is experimenting with it too. that is how i found out about it. i am trying to pick their brains and see what it is all about. i'm waiting for a doctor from there to get back to me so we can discuss things.

Thanks CH....we won't even go into the "hockey in a town that can't make ice naturally in the winter" theory I have. :-)
I am going to look around here to about the hyperbaric tx. We have a large teaching hospital that is a pain to utilize, but may make this more available.
