I was scheduled to have my bi-weekly Humira injection yesterday but I am in the midst of a really bad cold, actually it might be bronchitis, not sure but am going to see PCP tomorrow because it's been 10 days and the cold is getting worse. Should I wait on my scheduled Humira injection until this cold virus is better?

Usually they will want you to delay the med if you have an infection as the infection could get worse. But teddybear gave good advice check with the doctor.

This just happened to me two and a half weeks ago. I called my GI,I was feeling better, but still had a terrible cough,so he put me on antibiotics and I still took the Humira and did fine. My GI put me on the antibiotic, because I was the charge nurse that day,19 patients on the floor, and couldn't leave,so he felt bad for me,pretty bad when the nurse can't leave work!! HaHa tongue
Definately call your doctor in the morning to see what they want you to do.Feel better :-)

I *started* Humira with a really bad cold. All four shots. I had called the Humira hotline, and the nurse told me that they had to stick with the Prescribing Information guidelines, and recommend that I not start the Humira. They say *any* type of active infection = no Humira. I did it anyway. I was lucky... I didn't get sicker, and my cold went away.

The previous advice of "calling your doc", as well as calling the Humira help line would be the most prudent course of action. Having said that, I'd grab the rubbing alchohol and my Humira pen and dose up. I'd much rather suffer through a cold or other other nasty URI than have my Crohn's symptoms return. I'm not recommending that you do not follow your doctor's advice, or the advice of the Humira Hotline, it's just what I would do.

Entocort 9 mg/day, Pentasa 4 gm/day, started Humira 1/22/08, started 100 mg of Azasan (Imuran) 2/20/08. I'm convinced that Prednisone is the root of all evil, and primarily responsible for global warming.

Hi,I'm on Humira and my GI told me not take it if I have a bad cold runing fever or have a infection. So I do with the others you need to talk to your doctor and see what he/she has to say.
