I was wondering if anyone has heard of or used a natural supplement made to help crohn's called "Crohns Complete?" It's a system that comprises an elemental diet shake, herbal capsules that are supposed to deactivate the auto immune response that causes IBD and helps ease inflammation, and another container of flaxseed oil caps that are supposed to keep you in remission once your flare up is under control. The website has some encouraging testimonials, and I myself have been trying the product for the past 6 months on and off. I'm quite desperate for healing at the moment because I just got married a month ago and have been quite unwell since the honeymoon.
Has anyone tried the crohnsclear program? Should I continue or should I turn to drugs? I really don't want to turn to the latter as my husband and I want to start a family next year.

We found the Crohn's Complete Elemental Shake to be helpful last September when my son had a small flare. He drank it and nothing else for nearly 10 days, as I recall. After that, he slowly re-introduced solid food. It worked, and he says it "feels better in his stomach" than using something like Boost or Ensure. The capsule contains circumin (turmeric) and other natural anti-inflammatory herbs. Who knows if it helps. We've used it on and off as you have. Many folks here use turmeric, though.

The Crohn's Complete flaxseed oil product is likely not as effective as using enteric coated fish oil and/or cod liver oil, jmho. We use both of those instead of the flaxseed oil to supply omega 3s to the diet. The typical American diet is naturally higher in omega 6s and 9s (also in flax) so we need to boost the omega 3s for a better ratio. Fish oil has been studied and proven a successful addition to the diet for Crohn's folks.

So to answer your question about the whole line, for me I think the shake is worth it if you need it to calm a flare, but the rest of the supplements can be added much more cheaply by using fish oil and turmeric. Again, jmho....

I hope you feel better real soon!

Hey there,
If you have been trying the product for 6 months what kind of results are you having if I may ask.  Does it work for you?

I looked at the site and I see the homepage has the price on it which is usually a red flag for me.  But hey that is me.

I understand your concerns and I am glad you posted your questions.

Thanks for your advice. I find drinking the elemental shake for a few days really does help me the most. I feel there is no strain on my digestive system when I'm replacing my meals with it. I feel relief from bloating and cramps almost immediately. The capsules are ok I guess. I only used the herbal capsules and left the flaxseed oil caps on the side as I tended to take the enteric coated fish oil instead.

I now face the dilemma of not being able to obtain in the capsules in AUstralia as the new company that is selling the product now does not deliver outside the U.S. I can only obtain the elemental shake, which I have already purchased an ample supply of.

I will not be taking the capsules any longer, but have decided to take the shake when I'm experienceing a flare up, with liquid fish oil (preffered to caps), liquid Vitamin B, and slippery elm. I am also starting the SCD diet again.

If you wanted to, it wouldn't hurt to try the one month supply of the program to see how well it works for you.

:)

hummm....this is odd. I am in the US. I tried to order the package deal back in early December and was only partially successful. I received the CC Elemental Shake but not the oil or herbal supplement. I kept getting emails saying it was on back-order. Finally in late January I called to question the hold-up and was told they were "having trouble getting it from the company." (or was it the manufacturer?) Two days later I got an email telling me the order was canceled; they could not get the supplement. I only tried one company--I think it was evitamins.com. I've since given up. Now I wonder if it is even available here anymore...

It looks like Crohn's clear is available in the US. It used to be sold by a company called bioneutrix on the website www.crohnsclear.com. Now this website is not available, because it looks like another company is marketing the product. After lots of searching I found the new website is www.crohnsclear.biz. But as i said, this new company does not deliver outside the US whereas the Bioneutrix did.
