Hi guys I am new to this site. I do not know why i have not registered for this before. Oh thats right working 12 hour days prevented that lol. I am on prednisone and have been reducing when I got down to 10mg I started to get pimple boil like legions under my arm pit. I had felt sore under arm for some time at first i thought it may have been a sweat rash as it has been 120 degrees F over here. The lumps sometimes head and excrete puss but most dont. The lumps are working there way south leaving horrible purple welts. This is incredibly painful. I was wondering if they are swollen lymph nodes? I would love to know if any one else has experienced this symptom

I'm sorry, I haven't ever had that, but my best advice would be to get to the Doc. Have you applied hot compresses? (I realize it's already too hot there!!) Good luck and definitely let us know what the Doc says.

I do agree, please see your physician as this is not a normal happening to the best of my knowledge and besides they are causing you pain.

Please keep posting and Welcome to HealingWell.

It could be a lymph node infection. My daughter, not a CDer, had some very painful lumps/bumps and that is what they turned out to be. They didn't turn into boils, but she was treated pretty quickly with antibiotics, so I don't know what would have happened if it had run its course a little longer. I agree with the others, at least call the doctor.

I had this back years ago. The doctor freaked out & did a mamogram on me. But it ended up being caused by infected sweat glands. Are you female? If so, be careful when shaving & make sure you don't dry shave & you use good blades with the special lubricating strip & sensitive skin shaving cream & such. It might be from the sweating, too.

It is horribly painful, I remember. I am not sure if this is what you have, but at least you can take comfort that it might not have anything to do with your lymph nodes, but instead your sweat glands. ; )
Live for today, for tomorrow you might just get hit by a semi.

Hey guys thanks for your input. I am female and I am hoping it is just sweat glands. I think it is some kind of infection because a scratch from a garden bush is getting red and puffy. i will see Dr on Tuesday we have a public Holiday here tomorrow.

Hi, Hey, my husband just recently had some scratches from our cat get all inflamed and his glands under his armpit swelled up.  After having a lot of fatigue and a slight fever, he saw the doctor and was told that he had cat scratch fever.  Do you have a cat by chance?  I hope you get feeling well soon.

I'm going to the doctor on Wednesday for the exact same thing.  This is my 2nd time with them (same armpit).  My doctor explained that it was an auto-immune issue.  The last time, he put me on an antibiotic and they cleared up.  He said if they didn't clear, I would have had to have them drained.  The antiboitics didn't respond quickly, but more toward the end of the cycle.
They are bumps that are swollen and red. They are fairly painful.
I probably had them about a 15-16 months ago.  I have no idea why they came back all of a sudden.  I'm in the north east.  It's cold here (other than my Humira night sweats) LOL.
Good luck.

I know this is going to sound strange, but I get those if I use a stick deoderant, for me it is the deoderant clogging a pore. I had to switch to spay years ago and it stopped. One of my coworkers told me about it. I would get this painful lumps and sometimes could not even lift my arms. Like I said it sound strange, but it was an easy fix. Good luck.

This might be a strange question, but have you been in a hot tub recently?

You might have a bacterial infection that needs to be treated with antibiotics.  In the meantime, keep warm compresses on it; this will encourage draining and increased blood flow to the area.

Thanks guys I saw my Dr the lumps are quite possibly from a roll on deoderant blocking the pores or a scratch from a razor is often the cause of this. Because I have left it too long I have to have antibiotics as the infection is no longer localised. Thanks for all your advice.

I got those lumps when I was a kid, it turned out to be Cat Scratch Disease (I am not lying). Antibiotics did the trick. You dont have any kittens do you?

Essentially it is swollen glands like you suspected.

Taking Asacol, Lomotil TID, and on Remicade since 2004.
Lower Bowel area only, except for the short stint (about 2 weeks) that I had mouth sores.  Also have external/anal fistula and anal/vaginal fistula.
