Hi all,
I am new to this forum but wanted to say hi and provide a little of my background.
I am a 35 year old male.  about 10 years ago I became very sick and the doctors could not determine what the issue was.  I had a fever that would not go away.  I was treated for just about everything.  2 months later I had an upper GI and it was determined that I had Crohn's disease with fistulas.  I was admitted and within a week having an operation.
Fast forward to the present.  I have done great since my surgery.  The doctor's always noted that my CD was atypical as it came on so quickly with no history of stomach issues.  about a month ago my entire family was sick with the stomach flu.  I came down with symptoms and had a fever and stomach issues.  Within a day, I started to trow up and could not keep anything down.  I decided to go to the ER and a CT scan revealed that I had a bowel obstruction.  I was admitted and placed on the fun bowel rest.  This completely took me by surprise.
It did settle down and now I am on Entocort 9mg (first time on steroids).  I did avoid any surgery, at least for now.  I will be seeing My GI in about 6 weeks.  I always thought that when my CD came back, that it would be in the form of fistulas again.  The pain from an obstruction was something that I couldn't believe.
I did not really have any AE's from the Entocort.  I do have major gas but not sure if that is from the medicine.  My stomach feels a little odd, but it is difficult to explain.  Oddly enough, I do not have diarrhea anymore.  This is very unusual for me.  I am not sure if this is the Entocort or what.
Sorry to put any of you to sleep.  I just felt the urge to post, say hi, and share my experiences.
Warm regards,

Welcome, Lenny. I'm sorry to hear of the rough time you've been having. You'll find here, though, that a lot of people have been experiencing the same thing you have so it won't feel nearly as lonely once you find out there are others who are dealing with what you are, too.
Diagnosed in October, 2003 at age 31.
Currently taking Colazal, Nexium, One-A-Day multivitamin
Secondary conditions: mouth ulcers, joint pain, extreme fatigue

I'd like to extend a warm welcome to you on your first visit to Healing Well! To help you get the most out of the Crohn's  Forum please take the time to browse our threads .  I am sure you will find tons of useful info and meet others who have gone through the same scenario as you have.

I am glad you went to an ER and that they did the CT Scan to see what was going on with you.  It is often easy to blame the sx on the flu and that could be the cause for some but it is better to make sure.

Stay with us and keep posting.

I just wanted to say welcome Lenny! Your case sounds really interesting the way you describe how fast things have come on for you. Hopefully everything will settle down again for you soon.

Welcome!! I just signed up too!!

After months of not really being able to find a good place to "talk" about stuff going on with my Crohn's, I stumbled across this website. I LOVE that I can come here and feel soo normal!!!! :) Everyone else has Diarrhea ("D") too and thats ok! haha

And since I'm new, I didn't know, what does "AE" mean in your post?

Entocort, 3 pills daily
Upset stomach daily, tired all the time (except when on Prednisone), occasional abdominal pain

Thanks to all for the posts and understanding. AE stands for Adverse Event. Sorry, I work in clinical research. Hopefully I will get a chance to work on a Crohn's study in the future.

Take care,
