Fish oil is super important and since our bodies do not produce omegas 3-6-9 it's essential to take supplements if you don't eat fish at least 2X/week every week...I take it in conjunction with other natural anti-inflammatories that I take and feel that it helps, it has it's place...being an anti-inflammatory it would have benefit...of course I have altered my diet too, I don't eat inflammatory foods (processed foods, fast-foods, refined sugar, ect).

I cannot say if it will have any impact on your stricture but for your overall health it is important.

Good luck and keep us posted :)

you want to take a cod liver oil or krill oil. fish oil isnt as high as quality. i've been taking it for over a year now and i cant say i notice a difference, but considering the purported benefits, why not...

My son has Crohn's for 7 years, with on and off flare ups. This last current flar up, he had been on pentasa for several months, steroids for 6 weeks. At first it seemed he symptoms had been less and less. Once he was off the steriod. His pain was 10 fold major bloating, stomach pain, living in the bath room. Would not eat due to the pain he new would come moments after. This has caused major weight loss. I called the G I got an appointment only to get a replacement med that was much worse. My son refused to take the meds at this point. I begain looking for other solutions. After many hours, web sites, and reviews. I found some natural items on the market at your local GNC or organic centers that my help. I purchased Aloe Vera juice, Omega 3 fish oil, Papia extract. 2 days after he began taking the items to my amazment he began feeling better. He wanted to eat, his color came back, he still had minor pain. After 2 weeks the bloating and sharp pain is gone. He went back to work with little discomfort. Some lower light pain once in awhile. In the mean time he is going back to the G I as scheduled. It seem that if natural products and diet can serve the purpose, I am curious what the G I in put will be on this matter. Hope this helps you.

Hey, I, too, have been wondering about fish oil.  I started taking it after my nephew-in-law tried it and saw an improvement.  He use to be in and out of the hospital with Crohn's complications.  He gained a lot of weight from the prednisone.  Then, tried the fish oil and has been taking it daily for about five months.  He raved about it so I tried it.  My GI said I should take 4,000-5,000mg a day to see a benefit, but on the bottle of enteric coated Fisol that I purchased it said I wouldn't need as much because it was enteric coated and would make it to the intestines before opening.  So, I started out by taking the 3 pills a day recommended, but then, when I saw very little change I emailed my doctor and after careful calculation realized that I would have to take 12 pill of the Fisol along with my 16 Pentasa to have a benefit.  ( My GI also warned that it would have the negative side effect of thinning my blood.)  After, realizing that I would have to take so many pills I decided not to take the Fisol anymore.  I was super sick for two and a half days.  Then, after a black licorice binge, I started taking four pill of Fisol a day (one with each four of my Pentasa).  I have been to afraid to stop taking it again to see if I would get sick again.  Now, I'm looking to also add a Probiotic Formula by Garden of Life entitled Primal Defense.  Several years ago when my husband was vomiting for six month and the doctors couldn't figure out how to help him, I gave him this and he stopped vomiting in two days. (He has diverticulitis.)  Anyway, please let me know how much Fish Oil your GI docs have been recommending?  I'm glad your son is doing better.

I take fish oil pills as well. I can't say I've noticed any huge change in my life, either good or bad, from taking them. Although I have to admit I'm inconsistent with them. I wanted to recommend that you get enteric coated fish oil pills. Pills that aren't enteric coated can give a fishy taste. Good luck!

I have really tried to make the fish oil supplements work.  I freeze my caps and have no issues with the fishy taste, but the nausea gets to be pretty tough.  I will continue to try, though I cannot say that I know that I have noticed any improvement in bowel symptoms with or without the 1-3 1,000 MG caps a day.

If you drink lots of water with it (which you're suppose to anyways, it's usually a big pill to get down) then there are no fishy burps, not for me at least.

Actually, I have never had any fish burps or any neasea from the fish oil that I use.  It is called FISOL and it is enteric coated.  I highly recommend them if you are having these bothersome issues with the other brands.  I don't take them with a ton of water either.   I am either just lucky or it is a great brand.
