I am sorry to keep posting but all this is so new and I am not sure what is ok with crohns and when it is time to call the doctor.  Since I have came out of the hospital I have had horrible diarrhea.  Now today my stomach is bloated and only mucus is coming out about 12 times so far also accidents of mucus.  Is this a red flag?  I have a call into him as well.  Where did all the diarrhea/stool go?? I hope this doesn't mean I have an obstruction?? Trying to navigate through this crohns' nightmare is so scary.

Thanks
Chris

Mucous means inflamation. I get it with my soft stools/D. If it is all mucous and so bad you are going 12 times AND having accidents, Definitely call the doctor.

I have mucus on a regular basis. Sometimes more than others, but sometimes at night I am up every hour or two just for that reason. I am in constant contact with my doctor at this point for all sorts of reasons (fevers above 100). It would seem that if you are having a lot of mucus too, there are probably other symptoms going along that are also worth mentioning to your doc.

Good luck!

I used to have tons of mucus when my inflammation was not under control.  Some times I would go to the bathroom only to pass mucus and nothing else.  Since I started treatment, I do have diarrea several times (not every day), but mucus is completely gone.  For me mucus is a big sign of inflammation.  I think you should call your doctor, maybe you need a short course of pred to get it under control.  When I had an obstruction, I had unbearable pain coming like waves, loud bowel noises, and eventually vomitting.

Please call your doctor and insist on giving you something to ease your symptoms.  You don't have to suffer every day.

Take care,
Christina tongue

Thanks Christina for your words of wisdom. I am so confused what to do. This doctor is suppose to be an IBD specialist and a good one in NY city. They don't ever use pred. When I was in the hospital over the weekend for the intussusception they only gave me fluids. They asked if I wanted pain meds and since I was alone I didn't want to take anything so I could still be coherent to make decisions for myself. They didn't do a repeat scan to see if the telescoping ended. They thought because I had no pain they could send me home. Now I am home and not passing stool and feel swollen. I am passing mucus and mucus with strings of blood. It sort of foams out of me (sorry for the desciption). They sent me for an xray at my local hospital here and that just said nonobstructive gas pattern, non specific, no pneumoperitoneum. I am scheduled for another CAT scan tomorrow afternoon as they are looking for a small tumor or node in my ileum. They said they don't want to give me pred cause it could shrink it. Meanwhile, I am in so much pain.
Thanks for listening,
Chris

Chas036,
When the mucus just started what foods did she eat? I am just drinking gatorade right now as my stomach hurts to much to think about food. When I do eat it is eggs, cream of rice, mashed potatos, bananas. Does the diet include salads and veggies? How did your wife tolerate those foods?

Thanks
Chris

so she started on salads and fruits right away...even with the diarrhea and mucus?? I am going to check out the site and give it a try. I will do some research and get the food in. I miss salads and veggies so much. I am worried about them causing more irritation though. Thanks for the info.
