I was wondering if anyone has problems with red eyes, I have had two subconjuntival hemmorages in both eyes and now have a black floater that comes and goes in my right eye, it is worst outside.
The other problem is right hip pain and lower backache, I feel like I have run a marathon?
Are these things part of the crohns disease? Or am I going completely mad.
My crohns is in the jejunum only.

I can totally feel your pain. I have horrible lower back pain and I wake up in the night with hip pain. I have had CD a long time and this flare is the first time I have had such horrible back pain. I am starting remicade soon, so hopefully a remission is in sight. As for vision problems, I have recently needed glasses due to my flare, I had Lasik 2 years ago. The joint and back pain is hard, but I am learning to deal with it. You are not alone. I take a couple tylenols, but if you have any suggestions, my ears are open. I hope this helps, even if it only gives you someone you can relate to.

I have hip pain as well (I'm only 24!) and actually, it pre-dates my intestinal symptoms (I can remember having hip pain as young as 12).
I notice my hips get worse with cold/quick changes in the weather and if I'm flaring (only recently made the flare connection). I don't have much advice for you though :( No painkillers seem to help me and I'm going to get an MRI done on it soon.

All the best!
Current:
Dx: Crohn’s Ileitis as of 22/02/08

I don't know about hip pain but can tell you to keep track of your eyes. about 1 1/2 years ago I started having problems with my right eye hurting like a sinus headache, redness, with bright lights, floaters and blurred vision. It is another autoimmune disease, probably associated with Crohns. My eyesight dipped to 20/400 before Remicade an mountains of Prednisone.
Now, it looks like I am going to save the eye.
It appeared as a "mass" to my eye dr when he examined it after dialation. He then sent me to a retina specialist who after 6 months sent me the a retina specialist with an inflamation specialty.
Take a tip for me and have your eyes cecked regularly.
BTW, it was called Scleritis of the Eye.

Retired male in late 60's. Perforated Colon in 92. Diagnosed as Ulcerative Colitis in 93. Uncontrolled flareup in 97 dictated J-pouch surgery. 04 Capsule endoscopy diagnosed as Crohns not UC. Emergency surgery in 05 to remove lodged camera capsule. Biopsies positively diagnosed Crohns at that time. 12/06 Unsucessfully tried Naltrexone(LDN). 2/07 developed scleritis of the eye, tearing and detaching the retina. Treated with high doses of Prednisone. 6/07 Thought eye was healing and started taking Entocort counting on the residual (non-systemic portion) as treating the eye. Wrong. In October eye was not stabilized. 11/07 Started Remicade to try and reduce the ocular inflamation of the Scleritis since I had been requiring more and more Prednisone to keep the eye quiet. 12/07, retina tares and detaches again so it's still not working. Now blind in that eye. 1/08 now taking Remicade monthly with no real progress treating inflamed eye. Vision still <20/200. Inflamation starting to show up in good eye. I haven't given up yet, but it doesn't look promising.
Married with 4 grandkids.

I have burning in  both hips & severe aches down my legs, especially at night.  Have to keep flipping sides.  For the past 1 1/2 yrs I have been dealing with inflammation of the eyes.  They are very dry & I have taken several eye drops from OTC & prescription steriod drops.  Last week punctual plugs in both eyes to help keep them with tears.  I usually wear contact, & just until recently we are trying to wear them  a few hours a day.  I have 2x already & then the next day I have bad eye pain.  I am legally blind in the left eye & of course its the right eye that worse with dryness/inflammation.  Its only been 2 weeks since stopping the steriod drops.  They usually start flaring within a month or so.  I'm getting use to the glasses, but, I've worn contact all my life.  The good thing about the glasses is that they hide my puppy dog rings around the lower eyes. LOL  eyes   Best of luck to you & don't ever 2nd guess yourself.  We know our bodie well & I've learned the hard way...when my "gut" tells me something is wrong...it usually is.  God Bless.
Dx with CD 1987, 3 resections, 3 abcess sx, DD back & hips, bulging disk, Major depression/anxiety, kidney stones & sx to remove, now 44 yrs old.  Still trying to figure this disease out & of course all the little extra complications that come with this rollarcoaster of a life with CD.

I was told about a year ago that I had Episcleritis of the eye, in both eyes.  Then about a month ago, I was told my left eye had Scleritis of the eye.  I have been on oral prednisone to "quiet" my eye down.

I was off and on (more on) steroid eye drops for nearly a year, trying to get the Episcleritis to go away and it never did.  Now the eye doctor wonders if it was really Scleritis all along.

Best of luck to you and keep us updated!  PLEASE take care of your eyes!

I dont have the eye problems, but i do have the right hip with lower back pain, all they tell me is that it is bursituis for the hip and my crohns contributing to the lower back pain. Sometimes my back and hip are more painful than my tummy. I get cortizone shots for my hip (helps alittlte while) and for my back I take oxycocdone.
