Overly tired but no signs of flare? Iron maybe?

I am grasping at straws to explain why I'm so exhausted. I yawn all day long and want nothing more than to climb back into bed. It's not depression, which is what my first thought was. I sleep 8-9 hours each night regularly, but when I have a chance I can easily sleep 13-14 hours without waking.

My iron had been normal for awhile - I haven't run labs in months, though. I usually crave ice when it's low and that hasn't happened. Would I always crave ice when I'm low?

Is there anything else that might be causing it?

(ETA: I'm fairly symptom free right now)

I get a lethargic feeling when I have a urinary tract infection. Most people have pain when they tinkle but not me! I feel numb, tingly and SUPER tired. Like I can't even hardly hold my arms up.

I just found out my iron is low, though. It's probably been low for a year or more! But just recently my GI saw something on some bloodwork that made him decide he wanted me to go back for a test of my iron. Well, I started taking a prescription Iron supplement a week ago and that lethargic feeling I'd been having has gone away almost completely. My bowels are feeling crazier I think BECAUSE of the iron, but before I was taking the iron I was having periods of time that I could concentrate on anything except closing my eyes.

I'm sure others will come by with dozens of other reasons why you could be feeling so tired!

Glad to hear you've been symptom-free lately...at least THAT'S a good thing!

aimee, i just saw my gi today and was talking to him about my fatigue. though i am slightly anemic, i am on iron pills and have been for a few months now. i sorta felt like i relapsed the past few weeks and he explained that 50% of crohn's patients will feel symptoms off and on no matter what. could be the disease just making you tired. i would go have some blood work done though just to be sure. good luck!

I had the same symptoms when I was first developing RA-I had no symptoms at the time except this overwhelming fatique. It seems I had a lot of systemic inflamation that wasn't really noticible-like no obviously swollen joints. They made it go away by accident. They gave me nasacort for allergies and all of a sudden I had more energy and wasn't sleeping as much.
