Hi,  I am new to the forum..but not new to Crohn's.  My Crohn's was diagnosed several years ago, although like most I have had it alot longer undiagnosed.  I am on several meds with moderate success. (Enough to stay on them)  However, recently I have been having trouble swallowing.  Even though my food is chewed very small, I can still feel it moving down my throat.  Has anyone else experienced the same?  Yes, I have reflux but this is not the same.  Any insite is greatly appreciated.

Hello Sunny017,

Welcome to the Forum! This is a great place to ask questions and talk with folks who share your symptoms.

I suggest you talk to your Dr about your throat. Crohn's can cause inflammation there too. I remember someone posting a similar question on this forum a few weeks ago. Maybe they will chime in soon. Don't hesitate to ask any question because the folks here are very helpfull!

Thank you VERY much for your replies.  It always helps to hear from others in similar situations.  I will talk to the Dr. in the morning.  I am not taking anything for the reflux and with everything else for the Crohn's I think that would be my food for the day!

Thank everyone very much and hoping everyone has a "feel good" day!

Welcome Sunny!

I have this from time to time...where you eat and swallow and can feel go all the way down, and often it is painful.  Not fun!

Please let us know what the doctor says...I am curious to know what causes this.

Take care,

Indigo

Hi Sonny,
Just curious are you on prednizone? This can cause problems swallowing, one of the side effects.Hang in there.

Hi Jim,

Thanks but I'm not on prednizone. 6MP and Pentasa and now something for my reflux...don't know the name. and I thought my days of cutting food into tiny pieces was over! Thanks. I have an appointment with the GI this week.

any immunosupresant can lower your immune response to things like candida- which can cause an esophagitis (essentally a yeast infection). is your tongue white? you should see your pmd, but this can also be a cause of your symptoms

Another item to get checked is your thyroid. It is a simple blood test. I used to choke alot and found out that it was my thyroid. Just a thought.
Been living with Crohn's Disease for 32 years.  Currently on Asacol, Prilosec 60 mg, Estrace, Prinivil, Diltiazem, Percoset prn for pain and Calcium.  Resections in 2002 and 2005.  Recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and doing tests to see if I have Inflammatory Arthritis or AS.
