Hi guys, I posted the other day about having big white ulcers on my tonsils. I forgot that I'm also taking Humira.
I've just kinda frightened myself by looking at the hand book that came with my syringes. Sore throat is a big no no..

I called the fellow on call, he says I need to be evaluated, but it's kinda getting late, I think I can wait until tomorrow....

Have any of you guys had a real bad throat, and if so, what was the outcome?

Hi Vicky,
I am also on Humira. I got a very severe sore throat a few months back. I also had a fever and the glands in my neck were extremely swollen. It was strep throat and I also got scarlet fever with it. That's actually just strep with a red rash. The rash hurt like a sunburn and started in the back of my knees, inside of my elbows, under my arms and groin area. It spread rapidly to cover nearly all of my body. Anyway, I was put on antibiotics and steroids (ugh!) and seriously, within about three hours I started to feel better. I hope you feel better soon.

Hello Dunny2,

Please don't wait too long. The Humira is suppressing your body's ability to fight off infection. The infection could actually be worse than you realize --- the Humira is preventing your body from mounting a defense so you may not feel as bad as you really are. My Dr said he had a patient on Humira who thought he had a chest cold. Turns out he had pneumonia and spent a week in the hospital.

Take care of yourself!

Strep likes to just hang out in the back of peoples throats then when you go on immune suppressents it multiplies very fast. Strep can cause heart problems if it is left untreated for too long so don't wait beyond tommorrow.

Hi all, just got back from the docs. I have a pus pocket filled strep throat. They did the rapid result on me.

They just need to know if anything gets any worse {because of Humira} LOL

I have been sick while on Humira - I had bronchitis, not strep this time. Just treated it and did okay, though it kicked my rear quickly!

Hope you feel better soon
