I was feeling pretty well painwise lately. I stopped my fentanyl 1 week ago but I still have dilaudid for breakthrough pain. I went to my colorectal doc this afternoon and was tender in the area of the anastamosis. the local pain in that area decreased greatlly with the increase again postop on my humira After dinner I got a painful area about 0.5" from my scar from my Sx in January. It is tender to the touch and when I move but otherwise it is ok. The pain is still there even tho I took dilaudid 2 hrs ago. The pain is not letting up with passing of gas but when gas moves the pain sometimes intensifies. the pain has not been so close to the scarline with exception to wound infection which cleared by the end of February. I see my GI Monday and He plans to send me for another Mrie if abd pain is still evident. I fear an abscess or maybe another fistula. My birthday is Sunday and I have plans to go out to eat with my family that day it is kind of a tradition (even last yr with my wound vac pigtailabd abscess bag and ostomy bag) what would cause constant pain clse to the midline of my belly, if I had a bellybutton still it would be about 1 inch above the pain at approx a 15 degree angleon the left side lower quadrant. well off to gather my meds and put the heating pad on it

I have no idea, but would suggest going to the ER. Pain isn't something to be ignored, the very least call the your doctor or the doctor on call. It doesn't sound like a pain you are used to having and can't pinpoint. Get it checked out sooner than later. Dont' feel like you are bugging anyone, this is their job! Hopefully they will say it's nothing, but please go get it evaluated!! Feel better and take care of yourself!

Is it a burning stinging kinda pain? I had this after my Sx just above the pelvic bone and at the base of my incision. Turned out to be a small hernia. It protrudes a little now and occasionally still stings but isn't affected one way or another by passing gas or bowel movements. If it gets worse or you notice a change in your temp, bowel coloration or pain level I would probably go to the ER rather than waiting till Monday.
Hope you feel better soon.

I slept with the heating pad last night and the room smelled like I had constant gas all night. I had to get the ointment for my fissure this morning then went to visit people I use to work with. I still had the pain this morning even after a BM. I had a bagel today and during errands The pain seemed to let up some. I have had 3 more BMs since and the area feels even better. I will mention it to my GI monday when I see him.
