Hi,
As of last tuesday I started having abdominal pain right before a bowl movement. It is sharp and and lasts shortly. My bowl comes out formed but not as a whole rather in clumps after another. Sorry so gross! Also I feel gassy & bloated too.

History:

Been in remission since last year and have been doing well.

On 6MP
and Asacol

Take: Multi Vitamin

The symptoms were noticable after I ate Basic 4 cereal which now that I look at it has a lot of fiber. Also at work I have been snacking on peanuts and dried fruit. Something tells me these may play a part. I will stop these things to see if it helps.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be nice.

Sorry to say, that is one of my typical symptoms at the begining of a Flare. I hope that its not for you, maybe you have some kind of virus or a food sensitivity? To you keep a food journal?

Sincerely,
Matthew

For me? More constant RLQ abdominal pain, then the Big D, rectal bleeding, & these days, mouth ulcers, fatique. If the flare is a bad one, cramps & dry heaves, & the ever popular fissures & various skin conditions.

The LRQ pain, the D, the eye trouble, the mouth sores. I have all of these from time to time but dont think I am in a flare unless it is much worse and last longer. I remember what it was really like to be in full flare, and as long as it does not compare to that I deal with it. Sure I wish I could feel well, even feel well most of the time, but I dont think I will see those days again. I guess its just each persons own experience with crohns that tells them when things are really bad. Sorry I am not a great deal of help here, but If I got worried about a flare evey time I had a symptom I would put myself into one.Stress is the enemy.. Hope all goes well for you and you feel better soon...

My BM's have been like that for almost a year now - formed kind of clumps, which I label as LBM's - loose bowel movements!

Since January, I believe I've been in a full flare as every BM has been like you described. Plus abdominal burning. Gas. Dry heaves/vomiting while having the LBM. The LBM's are waking me up in the middle of the night, too, which has made me tired, cranky, achy and just overall fatigued to the point of non-concentration.

I keep a daily food and bowel journal. Food never seems to be a culprit for my flares.

This is by far the longest flare I've had since being Dx...I'm TRYING to get an appointment with my GI BEFORE my regularly scheduled 6-month appt. with him in June. I just don't think I can wait any longer.

I'm HOPEFUL that my problem is simply SBBO - Small Bowel Bacteria Overgrowth. The last time I was this sick I was given amoxicillin/biaxin to clear up an HPylori bacteria and 6 months later I was given Flagyl to clear up any "excess" bacteria in the small bowel. After that, I went into remission for 4 years. Evidently, there's only suppose to be about 100,000 bacteria in your small intestine...more than that, and you'll get sick.
Diagnosed in October, 2004 at age 33.

Currently taking Colazal, Nexium, One-A-Day multivitamin, Omega-3 Fish Oil, Vitamin D, Vitamin A
Secondary conditions: mouth ulcers, joint pain, extreme fatigue

I forgot, but how? Oh those wonderful dry heaves! I cannot believe I endured that for nearly a year without help back in the 90's!

Hi,
Thanks for all of your responses. I know that my symptoms are not as worse as when I had a full on flare last year.  I had an anal test done to see if there is microscopic blood in the stool and it came out negative.

I think because I am moving to Korea to teach english for a year I have been stressing out badly. I need take a chill pill and help my gut out.

I am taking some probiotics to see if that cleans things up a bit.

Still having boughts of pain before BMs but it comes and goes. Gas and bloating...I think these are signs of stress.
