I have gone from 30mg to 5mg of pred over a 6 week period.  At 5 mg, I am having pains similar to flare ups.  Do you think I should increase the doeage for a few weeks?  I'm going on vacation in 2 weeks and was hoping to be off the pred. because of the sun.  I also look bloated and wanted my bathing suit to fit!  Any advice?

Ask your doctor about the increased dose. Personally I would rather buy a new bathing suit (one that fit my pred body) then suffer through a flare for the sake of vanity. As for the sun-yeah that stinks having to avoid the sun while on vacation I would use the strongest sunscreen I could find and reapply it frequently. Do lots of outdoor activities after sunset and nap at the hight of the day.

Enjoy your vacation whatever you decide.

Call your GI tomorrow, but don't be surprised if he bumps it up some to avoid a flare.

It stinks, I know. I went to Disney on the dining plan for 8 nights at a point in which I wasn't eating anything solid. Oh, I was so hungry but could only take a bite or two of anything.

It's a bummer to miss out on cool parts of vacation due to the darn disease.

I had coffee this morning and had no pain, so I had 1/2 Subway turkey & cheese for lunch, still no pain. So maybe it was something I ate last week. I've decided to stay on the 5 mg for another week just to be sure, then go down to 2.5 the week I'm away, even though my doc said I could stop at 5. Of course, I'll have to take immodium daily. And eat light.

What makes you a veteran member? I'm fairly new to this forum and notice I'm "regular" while you are vets.
