Hi everybody!!!  I think I don't want to admitt it but I'm probably flaring....  I haven't had a solid bm the last month.  I had a lot of stress going on because I am working almost 10 hours a day, I moved to a new house etc.  I am reluctant to call my GI, because I know he will push me to take the "stronger" meds and I'm not ready to face that...  I'm currently on Entocort and Pentasa.  The truth is that I forget to take my Pentasa sometimes, I'm supposed to take 6 every day and I only take 4.  Could this make a difference?

It's not a big flare, I only have 2-3 watery bms in the morning, no pain at all, no weight loss, I still have an apetite.  I do have gurgling bowel sounds, but I always did.

What would you do?

Christina: Sometimes when our lives get a little crazy, especially if we are feeling relatively well, it is easy to fall into a pattern of non-compliance with our meds. I think you need to find a way to ensure that you take all your prescribed meds as ordered. give yourself a couple of weeks to get back into a routine, maybe pull back a bit with your diet and I'm sure you will be able to soon get back to your normal. Until you have given yourself a chance to bounce back I wouldn't worry too much.

I've been on vacation for the last three weeks, visiting grandchildren. Such wonderful fun. But so disruptive to my regimen of pills, powders and drinks. I too found the three-times daily dosing for Pentasa a challenge (sometimes I think it would be easier to take this four times a day -- at meals and bedtime), and, like you, often missed the middle dose.

In the middle of all this, developed an ear infection and needed antibiotics. Now I am home and can't seem to get things back under control, so I am pumping up the probiotics, making sure i get my medication back in line, cutting back on the diversity of foods i had been enjoying and hoping this settles soon. Oh, and I have been sleeping and sleeping and sleeping because that's what my body seems to be telling me it needs.

So in the midst of all your busyness, hope you can still take the time to feel the kiss of the sun on your face everyday.

Cheers

You might want to call your doctor, explain you have been busy and missed some meds, ask if he thinks this is the problem. I think it's good to stay in contact with your doctor. Hope you start to feel better.

Hi Crohn'snme, thanks for asking, we had our Easter Holidays, and today is my first day back at the office.  I feel fine, I even started having solid bm's again, so I think it was because I forgot to take my medicine....  So I had great holidays, I ate everything all the others ate, I even ate lettuce.....

I hope you are fine too!

Take care,

Christina

At the last teleconference I listened in on from ccfa, the presenter said that you can take Pentasa twice a day instead of three or four...it is controlled release, and they are finding no ill effects. You may want to discuss this with your doc, It has helped me to remember the meds more easily
