Has anyone experienced fevers after small bowel resection.  As a I started, weaning off the tylenol and motrin for pain, a fever became evident. Has this happened to others ?

How long since your resection? How high is your fever and is constant?

Welcome,

I have had 3 resections, but I have never had a fever after them. When was your surgery? I have always been told to watch for redness around the incision as this can indicate infection. I would definitely follow up with your surgeon to rule out complications. Then you can put your mind at ease. Please take care of yourself and keep us updated on your progress!

 Hi guys,

Thanks for the response. I got the answer the hard way over the weekend. It turned out to be a kidney infection courtesy of the Foley catheter used during the surgery. 2 days of IV antibiotics and I am back home now on oral stuff.  The wound itself is Ok.  I guess it is just bad luck.

It is always nice to get the traetment needed when things aren't going so good it makes a diff. The nurses and Dr. treated me very good. lol gail

Hey gachrons,

Doing much better.  Fevers are gone and have been eating a drinking normally. Managing to get a full week of work in, not the most productive, but I am back in the routine. The wound is healing slowly.  Still open in places and irritated but overall not horrible. My biggest problem at the moment is fear of food.  I am eating and drinking normally but I am not used to that.  Before surgery I watched the amount of food, type of food, etc.  So, my brain is a bit confused. I am slowly getting over it.  I had a soda for the first time since I can rememeber this week. So happy about it.  Took me forever to work up the courage to drink it.  So, I am learning how to eat again. In all, not too bad. Still a little sore, but healing.
