I was having difficulty swallowing and have a lump feeling in my throat.  So last night I was miserable and sent my Dr a note about my symptoms and this morning they called and scheduled me for an Endoscopy.

I am really freaking out. No food today and liquids until noon. Also, I am feeling better today. Actually better than I have been feeling all week. I am still feeling some pressure in my chest and a small lump in my throat.

I just wanted to share my panic of this last minute endoscopy! I hate medical tests!!!!

Don't worry too much about it Karen. It is a very easy test. They sedate you much like a colonoscopy and put a scope down your throat and take a look. You wont even know its done.

Hope your test gives you some answers.
Been living with Crohn's Disease for 32 years.  Currently on Asacol, Prilosec 60 mg, Estrace, Prinivil, Diltiazem, Percoset prn for pain and Calcium.  Resections in 2002 and 2005.  Recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and doing tests to see if I have Inflammatory Arthritis or AS.

WOW, you're lucky you were able to get in that quickly, where I live it can take 6 months or more just for a colonoscopy appt.

Hope all goes well, and do freak, it's not healthy for you LOL!

I never had an endoscopy until a few weeks ago. Much easier than colonoscopy and didn't feel a thing. Don't worry...it will be ok.

thanks everyone! I have a Hital Hernia and my Doctor recommended surgery and i have an apt on Friday w/ a surgeon. I am a bit worried and might not do the surgery since from what I can tell it is a pretty long recovery time. I visited the Gerd message board for some advice.

I have a Upper Gi to schedule as well, yuck, I get to drink the barium :(

My stomach was also red and inflamed which my doc prescribed Prilosec OTC 2x a day (which the box says 1x a day but both my hubby and me remember the Doc saying 2x a day)

Karen, I have been taking prescription PPI's twice per day for years. Prilosec is just over the counter now. Follow the docs advice. The dosage might be lower OTC so that might be why you need 2 as well. Glad you got answers. Feel better and keep us posted!
26 Year old married female law student.  Diagnosed w/ CD 3 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD.  I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid.  For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn.  I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13.  I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium.  Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night.  I alos take a birth control pill to allow some fun in my life.
