So I am currently flaring and have developed these red bumps across my chest and on my arm - they look like red pimples and are bright red.  the same thing happened to me last year when I got sick and the nurse looked at me and said "Maybe it's shingles!"  Great.  But the dr said no it wasn't, he didn't know what it was, then on with my colonoscopy and the Demoral and that took second stage to all the other drama going on.  That time it was on my lower back.

Does anyone know what this is or have experience with it themselves?

Are you on any meds or new vitamins? Do these hurt or itch? Shingles are painful. I have experience with many skin rashes, bumps, hives in the past and it still occurs at times. It is so hard to tell the cause!
Good luck

I am on Lialda, it is the only new RX I am taking (for 2 weeks now) - they don't really hurt but itch a little bit.  They are bright red and all along my neckline and chest so even shirts can't cover them up.

Could be a drug reaction. At least call the presciber to let them know.
Is the Lialda helping?

I also get lil pustules but they turn into huge ulcer like sores down to the bone/very painful and debilitating
That is Pyoderm Gangrenosum
I am sure it would not be the same but I would see a dermy to rule out the skin disorders that come with crohns if it were I
Take care and keep us posted

I also get these same bumps on my chest, shoulders, arms, back, head, and face.  Sometimes there are just a few, but sometimes I will breakout with a ton of them all over.  My Rheumatologist took great notice of them and told me that she thinks that they are a form of Staph called folliculitis(spelleg may be wrong).  I have been on so many different antibiotics for it, but since I was on Remicade and methotrexate, they would never really completely go away.  Sometimes, I get really big ones that look like a big zit, but only have a red, sticky fluid that comes out of them.(I know, gross)  My primary care told me that he thought that it was foliculitis too, because most of the bumps start around a hair folicule.
I also got another staph infection after my tonsilectomy that started with red bumps that turned into little sores that would not scab over.  This turned out to be M.R.S.A, but we were able to treat it and stopped the infection before I needed to be hospitalized.  This one rears its' evil little face still from time to time.

I get that rash thing on my chest & back when I flare. I think it also has to do with Pred in some way. It goes away.
Or you may have EN, but that is usually on limbs.

i got what sounds like the same thing, and for a while we thought it was a reaction to my meds, but it turned out to be folliculitis, a fungal infection of my skin and hair follicles. i am immuno suppressed on remicade. it was treated with medication (ketoconazole). mine itched very bad and it was on my chest arms and back. i had to get a skin biopsy from my dermatologist to finally get it diagnosed. good luck to you!
diagnosed with Crohn's 2/2007. Small bowel resection 4/2007 d/t abcess, perforation.
Currently on Remicade, Pentasa 1000mg 3xday.

I had all sorts of crazy rashes with pred.
48 y/o woman.  Diagnosed 4/06 after colonscopy, SBFT, CT-scan all showed crohns. 3 months later, after pred and remicade, all tests showed no crohns. December '06 had adhesions cut through a laparoscopy. Now taking Glycolax, Ultra Fiber Plus, Florastor, and DHEA. Have become gluten-free diet per naturopath's tests.

I've had the pleasure of havving shingles twice (it is a myth that you can only get them once). Singles is when the chicken-pox virus that is residing in a nerve cause that whole nerve branch to react. That is why shingles is only on one side of you (unless more than one nerve flares atteh same time). With shingles you can get swelling, deep ***** open sores, rough patches, and shooting pain along the pissed of nerve. Like the worse static electricity shock you've every gotten.

The second time I got it, it was headed out of control. The Drs put me on the anti-virus and it stopped the shingles cold in 24 hours. Amazing drug! But then a year later I got CD. Too bad they don't have a drug that can cure CD in 24 hours....

Well, something is going around this board now because I now have a rash behind both knees, mildly to no itching, no pain. I am on prednisone and wonder if it is the cause as yogaprof mentioned.
You are in good company.
