? about colonoscopy prep

ok i'm having a colonoscopy tomorrow and i've been on a liquid diet all day. I drank the first bottle of phospho soda 21/2 hrs. ago and nothing yet . How long does it take to make you start going?

It took about an hour and a half - two hours for it to kick in for me. Drink A LOT of water - when you think you've had enough, drink more. It'll help things move along faster and it'll stop you from getting severely dehydrated.

I agree...lots of water!!  It will help tremendously.  Although when I did my colonoscopy the first time, I was already having so much diarrhea, it didn't matter!!

Diagnosed with crohn's in January 2008! 
Pentasa 1000 mg 4 times a day
On Topamax twice daily for migraines
On nexium - continuing for a month or so...the pred upset my tummy pretty bad. :-(
 
I am 27 years old and have been married for 2 years.  I cannot wait to try to have children so I want to get this under control!!

Yes, drink as much water as you can.  If you are not in pain I would suggest moving around a bit, even if it is walking through your house.  I didn't have anything for about 2 hours then it all kicked in.

well right now the only thing thats happening is my stomach is distended and hard. Hope it all breaks loose soon. Thanks for the replies i have to drink another bottle in two hrs. surely that will do the trick if not i'm in some kind of trouble.

I took the pills and it took longer than usual for me last time too. I will still going on my way to the appointment. Good luck, take care of yourself. No fun. HUGS

The water stimulates the gut to start emptying, the phosphosoda needs the water to help it do it best job.
Some people are like Slinkies... Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
