I've been feeling nasty all day. Starting this morning, first my LRQ hurt. Since then my abdomen has been cramping intermittently all over the place, upper, lower left, everywhere. I feel gross, chilled at times, may have been running a very low-grade fever. Hard to say because only one reading was 99.1 and every other reading has been around 98.5. I guess I need to start monitoring my temp again.

I looked back at my diary and saw that I took cranberry pills last Wednesday/Thursday AM and I felt really bad last Thursday afternoon, and then I also took them yesterday/this morning. I'm not sure if these are the culprit or not. Does anyone else have trouble with cranberry pills or juice? I read somewhere they could be bad for IBS, which I was told I may also have.

Another possible culprit is ovulation as it is about 10 days since the end of my last period. Is this a problem for IBS/IBD? I've been having pelvic pain around ovulation time since getting off the pill, but this is worse.

The stress level is also climbing. Big presentation on Thursday. Psychosomatic?

I just really don't want this to be a recurrence of the Crohn's already...please no.

Hi Illini,

I'm concerned because you said your abdomen had been cramping intermittently but in different places, and sometimes you have a low-grade temp. Could it be food poisoning or just a bug? If it continues for too many days or gets worse, I'd call your Dr. You want to jump on it whatever it is.

Hope you are feeling better!!

Thanks :-) Today I checked and my temp is still high for me, but OK (98.5), plus I feel a lot better, and my BM this morning was normal. I planned on going in for another blood test in a week, so unless anything changes, I think I will wait till then to see my doc. Hopefully it was just a bug or something I ate. I'm concerned because before, when my CRP/ESR was up, the only symptom I had was abdominal pain and fever about a week before my period. The timing of this may have just been a coincidence...or not.

I get "funny" just before and during my periods...I don't know if it's the cranberry, I've never heard it was an issue for either IBD or IBS and I also have both and have drank cranberry juice (never taken the pills though) on a regular basis with no issues, I know everyone is different, but my personal opinion is that it's likely your cycle that's causing your issues.

:)
My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it!  LOL  :)

I know that just before and the whole time during my favorite week of the month, for some reason my intestines just looooove to...convulse.... all the time and I just feel like I have the flu.  Hopefully your symptoms are from girl time and not another flare on the way!

Thanks for all the input! I decided to just go to the doc today, as she had an opening this afternoon. I told her about the cramping. She agreed it could be stress, cycle, a "bug," or from starting to eat again. She told me to scale back to just cooked veggies, chicken, and bananas and applesauce with the Nutren, drink more water and up my fiber supplement. She thought the high sugar content of Ensure could be causing it too, and wanted me to stick with the Nutren.

But to be safe she ordered the bloodwork and a urinalysis. And gave me a script for an anti-spasmodic for the cramps "just to have it there." I feel alright today. Though my co-workers said I look pretty tired. I feel it, too!

Probably should have waited a week though... I wasn't very well hydrated today, so they stuck me three times to get the blood--right arm, right hand, left arm. Ow!

*Any* fruit juice at all for me means terrible CD consequences. I really miss orange juice, but unfortunately even small amounts of fruit juice pretty much destroys an entire day for me.
