hi all, My period is typically regular since I am on the pill. it had been almost a yr and a half since my husband and I had sex due to my CD and the 4 surgeries. Both times he didnt finish due to vaginal pain I was haaving...I tend to tear and bleed almost always when it comes to sex even with things like ky. I have noticed that after ssex after a long time without I tend to be late. I am 2 days late at this point but like most crohnies i do skip a period now and then...I skipped 2 months ago too. when i skip I get all the pms stuff etc. I see my new gyn 5-9 for an annual since with everything I havent had a pap in 2 yrs. have any of you had an issue of late periods after having sex after a long time without?

I cannot say as I have that particular problem. But I am happy to hear that you are having an exam soon. I know that between the swelling of the intestines and such that there are times when sex is not something I want to do. To be a bit adult for a second. I have found that laying on my side helps bunches.

Good luck.

Stef I am glad to hear you and hubby finally are back to enjoying eachother. Sorry can't answer your question on the late period as I was always as regular as a clock.

I was never on the pill but my periods were always sporadic at best. I have gone as many as 54 days between. And although slim, you could be pregnant. I'm sure it's just the crohns causing all the problems...it always is...

My cycle only get messed up from prednisone, I can't say for sure about the relation between going a long time without using one's equipment and then having your cycle get messed up from using one's equipment.  Any time I have been putting my equipment to use, I have been on the girly pills, which regulates the timing of the cycle really well.  I do know that prednisone messes up my cycle despite simultaneously being on the girly pills, but have not used my equipment in years and thus have never used the equipment + the girly pills + the prednisone to find out what would happen.

I sympathize with having your equipment be damaged from using it no matter what you try to do to prevent that.  I also have always had that problem unless my equipment got conditioned into being used on a regular basis, and then it would easily go back to being damage-prone even from resting during the flu or something short-lived like that.  Hopefully you will be able to use your equipment more often and the injury and irritation will lessen and disappear with more opportunity to practice.  Hope my encoded message makes sense, and hope you feel a bit better soon.

I am on the ppill and have been on bcp since 2000. I was on 1 type initially but pred screwed that 1 up...got my period every other week even after i stopped the pred while on that one. I have been on this pill now since 01 or 02 i forget which. I have even been on ABs while on this pill used withdrawal with this pill and never had it fail. Whenever I have gone a bit without then I dont seem to get it like clockwork however if no sex is a constant or sex is regular then I get it like clockwork. I missed my cycle 2 months.ago too. Prior to that back in January I had my norm...had surgery durinmy cycle. Ended up with ileus after taking my bcp for a week I had to stop them...and it always as my norm starts on a tues and it did. In february even tho having my period 2 times in Jan I still got it as scheduled in Feb. I skipped in march and had it at the start of april. I know even tho he didnt finish its sstill possible to get pregnant but as my past has shown in my case the pills seem to work. I use to skip occasional periods when I had been on remicade now I am on Humira.

Wow. Sorry you are having so much trouble with things. I hope for both you and your husbands sake, you've found a way to be intimate in other ways.

I have also had problems when inflamed.....but nothing involving my period. Sorry I couldn't be any help.

I never got my period I did take a pregnancy test "just in case" even though I was 99.9% sure I was not pregnant since as I stated he never finished but I know that that need not happen since some can come out prior to ejaculation. The test was negative Ill mention to my GYN that 2 months ago I didnt get it either and since each month your cycle alternates ovaries who knows...

I just switched from the patch to the pill and my 2nd month on the pill my period was screwed up. It came 4 days before the inactive pills and mine usually comes 4 days into the inactive pills. It lasted over a week but was really really light. Enough that I needed to wear a light tampon but lighter than my usual period. I think for me it was a flux in hormones going from the high hormone patch to a low hormone pill.

Maybe doing "stuff" got your hormones going again and that is messing up your period. Also stress can do it too. You were worried about doing "stuff" and I am worried about finals. Our bodies react funny to stress. Def. mention it to your doctor but I wouldn't be too worried.

dragonfly :)

Have you talked with your GYN about these issues? I think you really should, in my 40 yrs I've never heard such a thing with the tearing and such from intercourse (with the exception of virgine's), one of my friends had terrible pain with intercourse out of the blue, and she discovered she had cancer in one of her falopian tubes....don't let it go unchecked.

I do agree with pb4 in getting it check out. Just an FYI minor tearing can happen with just regular sex if one is not properly relaxed and lubed. With this chronic illness and sex therapy class I am taking (yes it is part of my PhD program) it does talk about how some drugs and illness can cause sexual issues for females too.

I agree with the last two posts. Go to your Gyn, be honest, they are understanding and have heard it all. I was so regular until Crohn's. No pills. But thing can be different or go wrong, so have it checked out and make sure you know what's going on. Take care!!
