I just got back from seeing my GI.  My stricture is giving me a tough time and I'm constipated to boot.  He is recommending Miralax 1 cap full daily.  Has anyone tried this?  Has it helped?  Is it rough on the system?  How long does it take to work?  Do you take it morning or night?  Sorry for all of the questions, and thank you so much for all of your help.  Julie

I have used it, and it works really well.  Took I think a little over 2 days to work, from what I remember, but was a lifesaver when it did.  Felt lots better using it.  It was not hard on my system and it was really easy to use as well.  Other than having to mix it into a drink and suddenly not having it hurt to go #2 anymore, I would not have known I was using a laxative.

I use it every day. I don't tend to use the full dose however as that's a little too much. But I would definitely recommend it- you just have to play with the dose until you find whats good for you.
I take it at night, usually in OJ so I cannot even pretend I can taste it. The stuff is pretty gentle just be aware you might not need a whole dose to work.

I use "Milk of Magnesia" but really whatever works for you! When needed Milk of Magnesia works very well and it is pretty gentle for the most part, but you will still go a lot. But if you feel constipated or pain from things not running through you, it is a great idea. But when you have D and Blood all day long be VERY careful. Sometimes you can have both and that is very hard and painful.
Good Luck to You!

48 y/o woman.  Diagnosed 4/06 after colonscopy, SBFT, CT-scan all showed crohns. 3 months later, after pred and remicade, all tests showed no crohns. December '06 had adhesions cut through a laparoscopy. Now taking Glycolax, Ultra Fiber Plus, Florastor, and DHEA. Have become gluten-free diet per naturopath's tests.
