I am new to the forum, but was diagnosed with Crohn's about 3 years ago. I have a few other autoimmune illnesses as well.  I am unable to take steroids due to negative effect on my liver and had an allergic reaction to Remicade after 4 infusions.  I recently started Humira injections.  I was fine after the first four shots, but after the second two I have had a red, swollen circle the size of a doorknob, which also itches.  I haven't felt much sicker, although the first day of the shot I did have a little dizziness, nausea and fatigue, although that happens a lot anyway, as you probably know.  I'm afraid I won't be able to take the Humira and am feeling hopeless again. I am very discouraged and wondered if anyone else had this and found a solution or knows of another treatment. I will see my doctor tomorrow about the sight reaction.   I have been unable to work for years and am very worried about my future. Any other treatments around? i've tried diet adjustments of all kinds Sorry for this long post, but I really needed to talk to someone who might understand. I hope you are doing well. Thanks for reading this.

Hi!  I'm feeling the same way you are.  I'm also on Humira and I having more bad then good days.  It's so hard to be positive when this disease is with you EVERYDAY.  Just try to be patient with the Humira.  My GI said that it can take 3+ months to see the difference.  As for the welt... It's never happened to me but others here have had that.  I think it's a common side effect.  Talk everything over with your GI and hopefully they'll have some positive answers for you!  Best of luck and keep us posted!

If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it

Thank you for the kind response. It really does feel better just knowing someone understands. I hope that you (and everyone else) are feeling better very soon. God bless you.

Hope4now -- you don't mention if you've tried the immune suppressors like azathioprene (Imuran), 6-MP or Methotrexate (MTX). There is also Cimzia and Tysabri which have recently been approved for Crohn's. Both come with warnings, but so do Remicade and Humira.

Don't get down on yourself for feeling overwhelmed though! This disease takes all it can. Just stay strong and know you are not alone!
