Hey I also take remicade and get the glorious benadryl and pre-steroid injection. It is generally solumedrol or solucortef...and it isnt bad at all, it just helps prevent allergic reactions. Doesnt have the same yucky effects as prednisone so no worries because it is only with remicade and not everyday. Best of Luck

I get both of those plus pepsid. I can drive myself after the treatment. I used to go to work right after, now I take the day off just because I have enough vacation time I don't have to worry about stressing getting across town afterward.

Good luck, enjoy the nap. ;)

Wow they must have changed things since I've had Remicade.  I had my last infusion probably about 6-9 months ago and was on it for 4 years.  The only thing I took before was one benadryl pill and two extra strength tylenol.  I always drove myself home.  My how quickly things change!  Good luck! :-)

I too have been on remicade for almost 3 1/2 years, and I get a benedryl, and tylenol before...no steroid. I drive home afterwards..no problems.

I am currently on remicade. When I first started I didn't have to take anything, but now that I stopped and restarted it, I have to take benadryl, tylenol and solucortef thru the IV when I get there. It makes me a little sleepy, but it wears off by the end of the 3 hours it takes. I drive myself home and it's an hour one way for me.

I'm 3 years into the remicade stuff. Just had an infusion yesterday. Anyhow, I'm up to 100 mg of benadryl (50 by IV and 50 oral) and solumedrol by IV. I drive home afterwards, benadryl does the opposite with me, it keys me up. Go figure...lol
Thanks!!!! (Hugs)

I have always taken mine with all 3 extra drugs. I went off for 6 months and now I know he does it to just be certain I do not have a reaction. I have been on Cade for 7 years.
