Hey all!

I am doing my prep for my colonoscopy and GI on Thursday.  I just drank my first bottle of magnesium citrate and it's been about 2 hours.  I don't feel like I need to poop but I feel like I'm going to throw up, I'm really fighting the urge.  Is that normal?  When should I start using the bathroom?  My prep is just drinking one bottle today and taking a pill tonight.  Drinking 2 more bottles tomorrow and taking some more pills.  *ugh*

Did you just keep taking it for the test or what?  I am sitting here almost sweating because I'm fighting throwing up.  I have to drink two more bottles tomorrow!!!  Yikes!  I hope I make it because I really want to do the test.

I had the phospho-soda and had a really hard time drinking it. I think nausea is pretty normal with this sort of thing.

Best of luck!

NSG . . . I had 4 pills, wait three hourse and then GoLytly. After the pills (and before the drink) I was horribly nauseous and was sure that I would be unable to complete the drinking part. Ughhhh!!! I feel just awful for you.

I started walking around the house (was afraid to go outside for fear of vomiting or D . . . but did try going up and down the steps too. The moving around helps the stuff go down and thru. It did help . . . but it was really hard getting that stuff down. I hope tomorrow goes better for you.

Blessings!

Glad you got a bit of relief! Ointment on your booty before and after will really help keep the "stuff" from burning your skin.

Blessings!

all those oral laxatives are gnarly. i've never been able to complete the prep and i've had several colonoscopies. drink as much as you can though cos the bowels need to be at least some what clear. sometimes they dont kick in for a couple of hours. walking around may help get things moving. but yeah, they always made me super nauseas. i find i can do unflavored barium/contrast easier than these oral laxatives. and the bum hurts the next morning like you walked backwards though a cactus field.

i am in the process of scheduling a colonoscopy (need authorization from the ins, just a formality cos i have a HMO). i had a choice this time to take the drink or 36 pills. i jumped at the pills. this was the first time i heard of it. i'd rather take a handfull of pills every couple of hours than drink that gross stuff. i still have fast the day before with this prep, but at least i wont have stuff coming out both my ends!!!

so next time any of you are set for a colonoscopy, ask about the pill prep. i'll let you know how it goes when i have to do it.

Yes, it is important to keep drinking even when you feel nauseated. You don't want to get dehydrated! Just throw up and get it over with! lol :)

lol, I probably should have just thrown up and gotten it over with.  Less to come out down there, I didn't know so much could come out of a person!!  Thank you all for your laughs and making me smile even though I really do feel like I've walked through a field of catcus backwards......OUUUUUCCCHHHHHH!!!!  The butt paste is working well though, thanks for the tip!

I just had one done myself not too long ago... *I was miserable the whole night.. Felt so sick... And yeah... my butt was hurting really, really bad*

Bleeding, too... //@.@\\'.... *Darn hemmorroids*

You could take a break from drinking that stuff... reward yourself with some jello (though, I think you're suppose to avoid the red jello)... or herbal tea if you have it...
I think I am being picked on by life, sometimes. But's that okay. Life and I are good buddies... I know life doesn't mean no harm. It just is the way it is. I can accept that.

Wow, that's a h*ck of a prep! 3 bottles of mag cit total sure sounds like zealous overkill to me! If you are "running clear", no "sand", just pale yellow or not even yellow, you are clear enough. Just keep drinking clear fluids right up to "shut off" time. You most likely won't need that second bottle of mag cit today if you keep drinking a lot of fluids.
Some people are like Slinkies... Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
