What does it mean...if anything.... when there is a film on top of the water after you "go."

Prof:

If you consistently see an oily film on the water -- especially if your bms are large, sickly sweet foul smelling and often explosive -- it could be issues with fat mal-absorption. Fatty acids are absorbed in the terminal ileum. If a large segment is diseased or resected the body has a difficult time reabsorbing bile acids, which break down the fats. That's what causes the diarrhea, which is called steatorrhea. If that is not your case, there may be medications that could be causing the problem, but I don't know about that.

Prof, Balleenstein, has it exactly right. If you are having fatty smelly stool, you need to get your triglyceride levels checked,.
6mp can cause inflammation of the pancreas, and if thats the case, your triglyceride or lipase count would be high.

Please let your doctor know... I had a severe attack of pancreatitis from the same problem.!!!!

Prof, I can imagine that you've been very stressed over your breast cancer. I'm so sorry that you had to go through it.
Have you finished with treatment?

The reason I mentioned the pancreas thing, is that I was on 6mp for awhile too, and I was completely unaware that it could
cause pancreatitis...

I would truly hate for people to have to go through what I did, and unfortunately, my 2 acute attacks, have left my pancreas
badly scarred, so I now have the chronic type, that is never going away. So when I hear a red flag from someone else, I get
concerned. But you are probably right with the stress thing. I wish you all the luck in the world with your fight against cancer
and crohns
