I have chrohns throughout my small intestines for about 8 years now and the only thing to take the pain away, has been prednisone and i have weaned down and been on 5Mg for the past 3 months. Everything has been going fine until yesterday, when I had a Jimmy Johns roast beef sub, which i have had before.
about 4 hours later the old pain came back, except this time instead of in the bellybutton area it was lower. All night i had stabbing pains. Today i feel like someone hit me in the stomach with a baseball bat.Last night i had the sweats and felt hot and cold all night. Today it hurts to even walk. The only difference from this sandwich and the other ones, was this one had tomatoes.Looking for any  advice.

Thanks Vid53

Could have been the tomatoes as they are very acidic. But if you have any narrowing that roast beef could have been the culprit. I no longer eat any red meat as it is very difficult to digest. It has to literally rot first to digest. I would eat really bland and light today and see how it goes. Sorry you are feeling so poorly today. (((HUGS)))

vid 53,

I am sorry to hear that you are not feeling well.  I have had crohns of the small I for 15 years and know how you are feeling.  The sweats are a little concerning. Any chance you have a fever ? Any nausea.  The sudden onset and pain with walking leads me to think you are obstructing a little.  Can you drink fluids ? Hang in there.

I've done that a couple of times. Are you going to bathroom?its good advice to do clear liquids. If you get to feeling worse you might want to call your doc.

Just a thought... could it be your appendix?

Sounds like it could be an obstruction of some sort. With my doctor's approval, I go on a water diet for one day - drink only water. The next day the classic liquid diet that includes broth and jello. And then a low residue diet for a while. He told me that if after 24-48 hours I still have the pain, I should go to emergency.
50 years with Crohn's and still going (no pun intended)! Diagnosed in 1958.

You poor thing. Isn't it funny how we can eat something we have had before and it can hit us differently. Everyone has great suggestions. I hope if you don't feel better soon, call the doc on call.

For some reason, sliced tomatoes ( especially FRESH..) KILL me. It could be you have a sensitivity to them. Or some other ingredient. If you start getting better, you might try a slice by itself. If you start having problems, there is your culprit. Unfortunately, I have learned what I can & cannot eat by trial & error.
Keep a food diary if you don't already!

Sincerely,
Matthew

Gosh for me, one day it's okay and then another can be bad. I can tell the really bad stuff, but somethings are so iffy. I wished I didn't enjoy eating so much. LOL But mathew has a good idea.
