Well I am officially in a major flare up.  And when I  went in for a colonoscapy last week I have gone backwords in progress.  The GI found I have 30 cm of CD disease which runs from the sphinter up towards to the first turn in the large intestine. That is good news in a way because it hasn't spread since my last colonoscapy (4  years ago).  She has taken me off the prednisone (started tappering down ) and now I am back on the Salofalk enema's morning and night.

The problem is my bum is soooo sore from muscle spasms and I can not keep all the medication in.  I can maybe get half of it in a night.  I still have to work so I haven't been doing it in the am.  My sphinter muscles is so soar and I feel like I bruised my tail bone as it is sore to touch as well. I am worried I might lose control of that muscle as I am running to the washroom faster and faster these days without notice.  Is it possible I just pulled it or something.  It tends to go into spasms more and more. I mean major spasm.. along with lots of blood and the CD stuff.

I am thinking I should go on Asacol for the time being and give my bum a break from the solafalk as each night is gets harder to insert and keep in.  Problem is my next appointment with the GI is not until July 9th.  There is no way I can continue doing this until July 9th.

I started Humira and have had 3 dose so far... they say it takes three to feel the effects.  My next injection is next week.  I don't feel any relief from anything I am on and it has been over two months. Ontop of all this I have a fistula which gets annoyed...

Sorry for the rant but I need advice on any tips or tricks on how I can control my muscles in my bum before I do any real damage.  Thank you in advance to anyone who read this.

Don't give up hope on Humira, just when you think it's not going to do anything, it cuts in.

I wish you well.

Can you call the doctor to ask a question? You shouldn't have to wait until July 9 if you aren't sure what to do!

I will call my GI and try to get in earlier. It is a long weekend here in Canada so things are shut down until Tuesday.
I took a muscle relaxer and it seemed to help a little. Baths seem to help as well. I would love to here if anyone else has Crohn's so close to the sphinter (sp?) and if they have experience with spasms and what they have done for relief while they are taking salofalk enema's? I am afraid to eat as I don't want to go into more spasms, but I know I have to eat.

Vicky- thanks for the Humira hopes I won't give up.

I don't have CD that close to the sphincter but I do get really bad anal spasms. My doc gave me a perscription for valium suppositories, which I had to fill at an Rx that makes suppositories, and at least they take effect faster than pills do. My anal spasms remain at screeming level until the valium takes effect, if yours do too then mabey this will help.

I feel a whole lot more the way I do now than I did a little while ago.
