so i have been researching the web like crazy and read on a few pages that 6mp can make your periods stop. well, i seem to be a week late and am a bit concerned. i am on the pill and have been pretty much since i was 19. i realize that birth control pills are not 100% guaranteed but i take it at the same time every day and have -never- had a problem. i also recently increased my 6mp to 100mgs but had to go back down to 75mgs because i am waiting to hear about my health care coverage.

anyways, can you ladies shed any kind of light or do i need to be worried? thanks so much, i am really concerned :(

My periods stopped when I was on 6mp but then I stopped taking it and during my next flare my periods stopped again too.  I don't know if it was from the RX or the weight loss or just the Crohn's.

BTW I have read before that there may be a possible link between the pill as a trigger for a Crohn's flare (similar to smoking) - has anyone heard this?

i would still love to hear any other stories if anyone else has experience with this.

I rarely ever get a period anymore--very low iron, 6mp, and crohn's in general---then being on birth control for 15 years. It's not a terrible thing to stop getting your period--I rather enjoy skipping it and my gyn suggested that I stay on the pill constantly so I don't lose the blood. But check in with your gyn and invest in those pregnancy tests. A good sale item!!

god that is scary! i would rather just -know- that i am not pregnant and deal with the regular monthly cycle. i have never wanted children and i especially do not want any now with all these problems. maybe i should look into the depo shot or maybe an iud. i also have mild anemia, i am taking iron for that though. thanks so much for the reply :)

I can't offer much about 6mp because I am peri-menopausal anyway.  I agree with others, a pregnancy test is in order here, just to be safe.  I will mention however that I was on the pill back in the day and all three of my children's births were due to antibiotics screwing with my birth control pill.  NO ONE ever let me know that antibiotics could reduce the effectiveness of the pill!  I never had problems with my periods prior to my Imuran (which is a drug that converts itself to 6mp in the body).  I was always like clockwork.  Now, I may go 3 months without one or have 3 periods a month!?  Is it menopausal or Imuran...who knows...just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.

Dx'd Jan'06, 1st Resection 7/06, Predinsone, Humira, Imuran, B12 injections, Nexium. Secondary conditions: Psorasis, Acne, Fatigue, Joint Pain, Lactose Intolerant, gallstones, fibroid cysts, peri-menopausal.

jeeez. now that's got me wondering! 3 months ago i switched back to a monthly pill because i was on seasonale (the four periods a year one) but i had so much bleeding in between periods i thought i had to switch cause it wasn't working for me anymore. i wonder if it was the 6mp screwing with me all along! thanks for the info :)
