Anyone experienced vision problems?  I went for my yearly eye exam today.  The last few months I've noticed a change in my right eye, or at least I thought.  I was looking forward to getting a stronger contact script so I could see, but the doc said it hasn't changed that much.
Just wondering if Chron's and vision are connected somewhere.

Some of the meds I'm on have caused my vision to change, but they are meds more for IBS than Crohn's.  That being said, some of the Crohn's meds could possibly have the same side effects.  I notice things getting blurry but the eye dr. will tell me I have 20/20 with my glasses one visit but then when I go back another time, I need a stronger prescription.  When I mentioned it to my GI, he said the meds were causing it.

Oh yes!  Last summer (before I was diagnosed) I had my eyes checked because I started noticing my vision was getting a little blury and I was getting really bad headaches.  The eye doc said I had signs of the beginning stages of glaucoma (at 30!) and that my eyes were very dry.  She gave me a prescription for reading glasses and another for glasses to wear all the time.  Well, I couldn't afford two glasses so I opted for the reading glasses.
Now, my vision is much worse...I usually keep my reading glasses on all the time because everything is blurry when I don't have them on.  I need to get in and get checked out again.
My doctor (GI, who stinks) doesn't comment on it at all, even though I've mentioned it.  My naturopath said that yes, there is a connection with the Crohn's...having to do with absorption issues.  In fact, she said she wants me to wait to get a new prescription because she's certain that once I get a handle on the CD, my eyes will get better too.
Good luck!

My eyes have changed to much. I dont' know the series of testst I had done for Crohn's, but it's series that they suggest and you go back and have done regularly.

This has been discussed lots.

Retired male in late 60's. Perforated Colon in 92. Diagnosed as Ulcerative Colitis in 93. Uncontrolled flareup in 97 dictated J-pouch surgery. 04 Capsule endoscopy diagnosed as Crohns not UC. Emergency surgery in 05 to remove lodged camera capsule. Biopsies positively diagnosed Crohns at that time. 12/06 Unsucessfully tried Naltrexone(LDN). 2/07 developed scleritis of the eye, tearing and detaching the retina. Treated with high doses of Prednisone. 6/07 Thought eye was healing and started taking Entocort counting on the residual (non-systemic portion) as treating the eye. Wrong. In October eye was not stabilized. 11/07 Started Remicade to try and reduce the ocular inflamation of the Scleritis since I had been requiring more and more Prednisone to keep the eye quiet. 12/07, retina tares and detaches again. Started Remicade every 4 weeks plus 20mg of Prednisone per day. Six months and seven infusions later, good eye is back to 20/14. Bad eye is 20/70. Set for cataract surgery in June 08 on bad eye. Should return to a correcable visionary level. Life looks good (literally) today.
Married with 4 grandkids.
