I bought the yogoumet multi!!! I'm making my first batch of cow milk yogurt.

I have trouble digesting commercial yogurt, and i hope this 24 hr fermented yogurt will not cause me problems.

Anyone else have trouble with commercial yogurt but is okay with 24 hour fermented SCD yogurt?

Anyone have trouble even with the 24 hour fermented cow milk yogurt?

Right now I am cooling the milk pot in a basin with cool water. I used 2L cow homo milk.

Any advice or tips for success is appreciated.  Oh, is the cheese any good?

Only thing I would mention is ultra vs. regular pasteurized.

The jury is still out on whether MAP (M. paratuberculosis) plays a role in Crohn's. It's not a bad idea to use ultra-pasteurized dairy products since MAP can't survive. I was unable to find yogurt made from ultra-pasteurized milk, so I just bought the Yogourmet muti as well, but have not used it yet. So I'm curious to hear how it goes!

been using reg pasteurized for years, no difference for me.

Congrats on the new purchase, Roni!

Yes, I totally agree with with Illini about the pasteurized vs ultra-pasteurized milk and MAP potential! That said, to make SCD legal yogurt, you bring the milk to a boil and cool it back down to add the yogurt cultures. The purpose of boiling the milk--as the SCD instructions state--is to kill any bacteria you DON'T want fermenting there in your yummy yogurt. Therefore, any kind of milk should be fine since you boil it in advance! Now, if you choose organic milk for its purported high omega 3,6,9, that's good, too! Me? I've been buying the cheaper milk and taking fish oil supplements and flax seed oil for my omegas... :-)

I'm hoping someone comes along who has made the cheese! (butterfat, are you out there?) I need tips on that, too!!!

I used Micro filtered pasturized Omega Homo milk. I hope the micro filter will get rid of the MAP too.

I haven't heard of micro filtered milk! Do you know what the process is?
