Yes, an expensive alternative to the past studies on gum chewing post op to regain bowel peristalsis sooner.

Glad the drug companies jumped on that one. Oh, but they make pills. Wrigleys could make a fortune if they did a few solid studies!

Thanks for the info though, I am not making fun of you, just the pharmaceutical industry(pimps and *****s)

spasman, I am actually angry at this study and drug companies(plural) involoved with this. They are making a pill that a patient takes PRIOR to surgery(when this is not done otherwise due to risk of aspiration death with anything oral ingested). Then they take the prescribed amount of capsules AFTER surgery for a few days. The use is strictly controlled and only registerd hospitals are permitted to use them. This tells me that these hospitals are part of the clinical trials as well (kind of a post trial study). Hope the patients are signing consent forms.
Why not let the patient take some gum, a sip of water, etc, and save millions of dollars?
