Ok so two weeks ago I had this severe pain hit me out of nowhere. It was in my upper abdomin kinda between my ribs, possibly it was my stomach I dont know. Anyways it lasted about an hour then I went to the er and they put me on pain meds. They did testing and couldent find anything. Well the pain hasnt came back until today. And it was worse this time. I had some vicadine which I took after I was done vomiting. oh yea the pain is so bad it causes me to throw up. It lasted for about 1-2 hours, and I took a nap and now its gone. I wanna know what it is though. It is horrible, I noticed it started in the middle of my upper abdomine and then stretched to my back and under the rest of my ribs. any advice?

Is it constant or is it coming in waves like a cramp? Does it pulse? Is it positional -- does the centre of pain move depending on how you are standing, lyiing or sitting?

Do you still have your gallbladder? When I was first diagnosed 17 yrs ago, the dr actually found my crohns during surgery to remove my gallbladder.  Before the surgery, I had severe pain that started by my middle abdomen, and went around to my back.  I let mine go too long and ended up with stones in my common bile duct.  This may not have anything to do with your pain, but it's worth checking out!

It may also be gas. I've had severe attacks of gas and it is quite painful! The stretching of the intestines is amazingly painful for me. It lasts 1 - 2 hours and suddenly is gone. Causes me to sweat and vomit too. The only thing to do is take percoset and keep moving to get the blocked gas to move through the intestine. Climb stairs and stretch. When I have to lay down, I do it on my right side (so the gas will move in the correct direction). It is sooo painful!!

I suggest you really limit gassy foods and see if that helps!

Take care.
