After going through surgery in April, I was hoping to get some relief from my CD. The surgeon removed my gallbladder and 10 inches of small intestines.  Well, turns out I'm still having pains, cramps,  and the big D.  So my GI wanted to do a camera pill study to see what was going on.

I first had a practice pill at the beginning of the week, went for an abdominal x-ray the following day and luckily found that the pill had passed.  Consequently, I was able to have the camera pill study done yesterday.

My question is: does the camera pill dissolve or come out whole?  Haven't notice anything so far but was just wondering if I will see it if it passes.  Having some pain today and a little concerned that the pill may be stuck.  But, my appetite is good and I don't really feel anything except for some pain.  Any thoughts?

It does not dissolve. When I did it I think it took about 2 days for me to pass it. Since I always check out my poop I did see the capsule in the bowl.

And if, in the highly unlikely chance, you don't see it pass and in the toilet bowel, an xray 3-4 days from now should answer the question.

I've done the capsule endoscopy twice, both in 2006, and neither time did I notice the capsule when it came out.  So you might not even notice it unless you, uhm, really make an effort to look.

The little darling starts taking pics as soon as it is removed from its container, so smile as you swallow it. It sends pics to the receiver you wear while it is on its way through the twists and turns of you insides. I never saw mine pass, but my doc said it set a new speed record from start to finish. Truth is, had it not been for this little camera, I would still be wondering what the hey is wrong with me.

My camera pill got stuck in Feb of 2007 and I didn't have any "extra" pain on top of what I was already experiencing. Actually it took until April of 2007 and a CT Enterography to know that it was still in there. It stops taking pics after 8 hours and not everyone will pass it in the time frame. My GI "assumed" it had passed after the recorder shut off, but obviously it didn't. As stupid as it sounds, I am glad it got stuck because they decided to do surgery to get it out and found a huge "mass" of intestines all stuck together and since that resection I have had little to no pain or issues with foods. YAY!!! Don't get me wrong the surgery was awful and recovery was worse, but TOTALLY worth it!!!!! GOODLUCK!!

My GI wants me to have an abdominal x-ray next week to make sure it passed. I just went through surgery in April and would hate to find that the pill is stuck and I need surgery again. I did have the practice pill before the camera pill and it passed within 29 hours (that's the time I had to have an x-ray to see and it was gone) But had the practice pill got stuck, it is made to dissovle itself, so it wouldn't have been a problem.

I still have not noticed the passage of the camera pill, but I hope it has. Please keep your fingers crossed. Surgery is the last thing I can think of right now.

Relax. Don't sweat the small stuff. The Agile Patency Capsule passed, so will or did the camera.
