I'm wondering if Chrons in the cecum or ileum could cause increase gas or even cause retention of gas in the colon.

I've to reduce my cheese intake as it cause gas.

Hi there, and yes, classic symptoms of crohns, bloating, gas, bubbling and gurgling also. I too feel like I am constipated, but it is just a flare. I would stay away from all dairy and veggies for a day or so and write down what you eat and how you feel after. Hope you get it under control good luck.

I was wondering if i have Chron's in the small bowel or cecum with no apparent stricture(apparently from the Barium studies).

I don't think it would explain my colon motility problems tho.

If someone has a resection,do they get a reduction of gas and perhaps improvement of motility?

Spasman - I had a resection two months ago, which resulted in a huge increase in gas and an increase (not improvement) in motility. My GI said it takes about 6-9 months for the bowel to adjust to the missing parts, especially the ileo-cecal valve.
50 y/o F. CD dx'd Aug 05. Initially on Pentasa, then Imuran 125 mg. Started Humira (very reluctantly) on 10/24/07. Ileocolectomy 4/08.

Hey Spasman - wanted to give you heads up on something because no one told me for a long time and I wish they had. I swear I am not being a snob. You spelled the disease "chrons" and it is actually "crohns." I had been diagnosed well over a year, an active member of the forum and had sent out all kinds of fundraising letters for my walk AND did an interview on the radio, before a nice member of healingwell informed me I was spelling it wrong. I was very embarassed because of how many places I had used it. I also thought since it was a chronic illness it made more sense to be spelled the same way. Oops. Other than that I can't really answer your question just that I hope if you do have crohns your docs figure it out soon so that you can be treated.

I have had 2 resections, and I still have gas from time to time. Now on Humira I dont get it, or mucous loss, but still some right quad discomfort. Trapped gas is something all crohns patients get.... sooner or later...

I've also had two resections, and my gas problems got worse with each one. It's a nightmare.

I'm pretty sure all of these fun gut problems (IBD and IBS) come with gas issues!

Yes. I have gas, gas and more gas. I've never had a resection. Even when in remission I still battle EXTREMELY painful gas at times, gas that has me rolling around in agony for an hour.

In my current flare, the only symptom I have besides GI bleeding is gas. Gas sucks.  I'm so fed up with gas.

Dx'ed in 1999. No surgeries.

Current meds: 75 mg 6MP. 20mg prednisone.

Apparently there is bags that have a vent cap on it to expell gas.

Look interesting.
