I am off all meds except for Pentasa and have been feeling great!  It's so nice to be off meds and have no side effects anymore.  I have been urinating a lot and am very thirsty so I went to doc to check for an infection and they want me retest my urine for elevated levels of protein in my urine.  Anyone have any complications with crohns like this.  I read that some of these meds can affect our kidneys. Anyone have info on this?  Thanks.

I always have high amounts of protein & blood in my urine. I still haven't found the reason....

When I tried to take Pentasa a few years ago, I was peeing every 5 mins. on that stuff. I only took it a few days and had to stop.
It made my bladder totally out of the control where I felt I had to constantly pee. It was awful.

Sometimes protein just comes up in the urine for no particularly good reason, and often goes away on its own, but could indicate a urinary tract infection, kidney problems, and a host of other problems. They will probably want to re-check your urine in a few days, which would be a good idea. Did you have a urine culture, or a urine glucose test?

Yes they want another urine sample.  No infection according to the urine and blood tests.  I assume everything will be ok, I will post back with results next week!

Have it checked out, CD has several complications that effect the urinary tract. Some are pretty rare, but serious. I had one of those before my CD dx.

I've had minute traces of blood in my urine forever now. The clearest it looked was just after my resection. Urologist has not found the source as it was not infection, stones or abnormal function? With protein in the urine might I ask do you have any joint pain?

I don't really have any major joint pain....unless I do and am just used to it?  I work out a lot and try to keep in shape, maybe that helps my joints?  I have been very thirsty and peeing like every 10 minutes and I went to the doctor becuase it is becoming an annoyance and a hassle.  I guess I'll just wait and see what they come up with.

Jennifer,

Are you taking Forteo and Actonel? If so, these meds are not meant to be taken at the same time as one another according to my Husband's Endocrinologist.

Take care,

Yes I am in a STUDY at UC Davis Health Center. I take Forteo injections and that Actonel pill becuase of my early onset of osteoporosis.......um I'm 39 and have had it for a couple of years? How do I find out about why I should not take them? What does it do? Do you have any more information?
