tapering to quickly

he everyone i have been on 10 mg of pred since tuesday and every week i taper by 5 mg so next week I would be on 5 mg. I really want to get off of this seeing as how I have been on it since October but I am wondering since I am feeling horrible with major withdrawal symptoms if I should taper more slowly or just push through the withdrawal? What has been better in your experiences?

Taper more slowly. I would go down 2.5 mgs every two weeks or if I still felt bad on that schedule then go down 1 mg per week. By the way what withdrawl symptoms prednisone is not addictive so its not generally withdrawl but adrenal insufficiency which is the problem but a lot of times it is just the original condition returning as the med is lowered.

Yeah I am on it too, but I would prefer to be on Entocort but it doesnt work for me, too bad less side effects.  I am only on prednisone for the summer and may have elective surgery.  Tapering off too fast will lead to getting flares sooner.  There is a major downside to being on this drug, that is why I will only go for a few months.  There are other less invasive drugs.  Hang in there, keep strong.
