I was in a lot of pain the other day and went to the ER.  They told me I had a peri anal absses. But now I am not really in any pain. This happened to me yesterday as well I woke up in no pain then in the afternoon I had pain.  I'm scheduled for surgery on Monday.  But does this sound normal to anyone?  Should I call my doc?

Has it drained at all?  If so, that would probably make the pain diminish.  I also noticed that the more that I was on my feet, the worse it was.  If I was lying down a lot, it helped.  Good luck!

It hasnt drained yet. Now its starting to hurt again. I have found that laying down helps with the pain.  Thanks for the advise.

I have had one that my dr. examined me, and then afterwards it felt alot better....so I think maybe she moved it somehow or did something, but I wasn't in the pain that I was in before. I definitely have different positions that are more painful than others when I have an abscess.

Hi Dreamer06,

I'm glad you are getting this taken care of quickly! Unfortunately, it will only get bigger! The amount of pain may relate to the location of the abscess and whether it is pushing up against something. But I too am wondering if it hasn't formed a fistula and is draining somewhere. I've had abscesses hurt and then not hurt because they drained alittle, and then they filled up again and hurt -- up, down, etc. I hope your surgeons are experienced with CD and take care of it for you!! Remember several sitz baths a day (in the tub) and take plenty of time off so it can heal completely! I am almost through recovering from a per-rectal abscess so I know what you are going through!!

Take care and let us know how it goes!!
