I just wanted to report that I took my first dose of methotrexate last night before bed (6 tabs, 2.5mg each) plus 1 g folic acid.  Other than making me feel a little more hungry I didn't notice anything, slept fine, and feel ok this morning. A little shakey but no more than that.  Hope it stays this way!  :yeah.gif','yeah','yeah');" height=25 alt=yeah src="http://www.healingwell.com/community/emoticons/yeah:

Hi Chris, Hope you get relief from the MTX and none of the side effects. I know it took up to two months to start working on me, hope it works sooner for you. Jo

Chris, what is the purpose for taking Methotrexate ? I am on it because it is suppose to help me tolerate remicade, but you dont list remicade in your post.
If we would read the secret history of our enemies,we would find in each mans life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility.

MTX is a stand alone treatment as well as a modulator for remi/humira for crohns. The funny thing is I was on remi before I ever tried MTX (I take the shots because I can't take oral meds well), but MTX is the only thing that has helped me.

I am on week 11 of mtx and loving it. It took a few weeks to shake the kinks out so I could tolerate the side effects but now I love it and am not suffering side effects at all.

The rheumatologist is treating me with MTX for crohn's related arthritis. He also said the arthritis qualifires me for Remicade/humira even if my CD doesn't (it seems well controlled on pentasa) but I have to fail the iv meds first. I'm in no rush if the MTX works and doesn't cause side effects like mouth sores or low white count.

I did feel kind of crummy later the first morning- weak and stomach kind of burbly, almost hungry but not hungry. That lasted a few hours and after that I was fine. So if that is the worst side effects I get it'll be ok.
