Hi All, I'm looking for input.
I've been flaring lately but still trying to travel in my car (30+ miles one way) for different reasons (with work being one).
Anyways, what do you all do when you HAVE to travel and KNOW you won't make to the restrooms??? ( not enough of them on the way to and from)
I'm actually considering some of my own weird thoughts ...LOL
(Like taking a bucket, have pants down, sit on bucket, and cover up with a blanket, oh god!!!)
I'm flaring, after almost 2 yrs. of being in remission, and off all meds. I don't want to go back on meds...but realize I will probably have to break down and go back to a GI. Having "D" about 15 times a day, with gas and bloating and a big loss of energy. Just don't want all the testing and trying different meds all over again (been there done that). I'm sure you can all relate!!!
Any travel advice??

Have you tried taking Immodium before you leave the house? When I am having bad D I will use that to slow/stop things when I have somewhere to go. I would contact your GI right away. Maybe a short course of Pred will quiet things down for you soon. The longer you let this go, the longer it will take to get back into control. I am currently doing a 10 day taper of Pred. I caught this flare really fast and looks like I am responding well to the short course of Pred. Good luck!
Been living with Crohn's Disease for 32 years.  Currently on Asacol, Prilosec 60 mg, Estrace, Prinivil, Diltiazem, Percoset prn for pain and Calcium.  Resections in 2002 and 2005.  Recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and doing tests to see if I have Inflammatory Arthritis or AS.

I have to agree with Nanners.....a short course of pred may help. The longer you wait the longer to get through the flare up. I have never taken immodium and won't. I know to many people that it has created constipation. Maybe I am bit a pain in the butt but I also hate the D.

Good luck....also when I travel I make sure that I can fly or take a train unless it is less than 3 hours and there are road side stops then I stop at each one (for guess what).

I read that Immodium isn't good for Crohnie's. I really think you need to be seen and treated. Your body is acting this way for a reason and you need to address this reason. No fun, I realize this, but being healthy is a work in progress for us with Crohn's. Please go be seen and let us know what they say.

it may be embarassing but I would buy some depends that way u have the peace of mind knowing that if you are not able to make it to a rest room in time that protected. If you don't want to wear them in case people would notice I would pack extra underwear and just change into them when I got to my destination
