Hi Everyone,
My husband saw his GI yesterday for crohns symptoms occur after 1.5 yrs of remicade and he didn't remember what dr said to him he think that 2 pills(3 mg) a day first then taper but when he got his medicine bottel saya that 2 pills twice a day * 4 weeks then 1 pill twice a day * 2 weeks then 1 pill in AM * 2 weeks
Is this is the right dose i searched in this web site and someone says 3 pills (3 mg) is maximum dose.

The "usual" dose is the 3 mg 3 x daily. BUT, you might say that Entocort is not as STRONG a steriod as prednisone and certainly I've seen almost a wide open range of prednisone dosing. The total dosing regimen your husband has been put on including the taper is 8 weeks which sounds about right.

My gastro put me on 3 pills 1 x daily for 6 weeks, 1 week at 2 pills daily and 1 week at 1 pill daily. When in doubt call the doctor to clarify.

It may well be that your doctor wants to hit your husband's disease activity HARD whilst reducing the systemic side effects that prednisone is so prone to causing.

mal, does not sound like an Entocort dose to me... .

I would call the doc and ask, I wonder if the pharmacist made a mistake and followed the orders for another med. Or, maybe the doc meant to have that type of taper. I would call and ask.

I think I was on 9 MG = 3 pills in the morning then after a few weeks 2 pills, 6 MG, then after a few weeks 1 pill, 3 MG.
26 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night. I also take a birth control pill to allow some fun in my life.

Good, Mal. The phone call was worth the peace of mind, wasn't it. Always best to check when in doubt. People do make mistakes. Better safe than sorry.
