I know I am having a little stress today but I just noticed the Cimzia ad talking about how some people have died while taking it. It hit me as being something I would not want to look at all the time as the meds can be scarry enough for us. Do we need to be reminded? What if any thoughts do you have about having to look at that ? skull lol gail

My GI mentioned it to me yesterday, since I had to go off of Humira after 10mths due to DIL,but it's way too new for me,and I also saw that it can cause MS symptoms,so I'm just staying on the Asacol and the Imuran for now,Imuran is the drug that has been a godsend for me. I'm sure Cimzia will be great for some.

Good luck :-)

So the benefits are suppose to outweigh the risks.....hmmmmm.

Well, when you get into your auto do you think about how many people never make it back home ? I do, and I drive more carefully. I still ride my Harley, and I eat fish, though they come with a mercury warnings. I drink tap water, filtered of course and despite the warning of animal fat burning on charcoal giving off cancer causing fumes, I still throw a steak or a yard bird on the grill any time my old gut says I may get away with eating it. Fact is many things in life are dangerous but we either do them anyway or crawl into a hole and do nothing, which is a danger in itself. I just cant see myself as a 100 year old geezer stuck in a nursing home wishing I had had a little more fun when I could. I guess I'd rather take a chance or two and enjoy what life I have , no matter how short.
If we would read the secret history of our enemies,we would find in each mans life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility.

Cimzia has the same safety profile as Remicade and Humira.  and let's face it--there are not many drugs out there that do NOT list death as a possibility.  I'm with Sniper, let's live like there's no tomorrow.

I haven't seen any ads for Cimzia, but that's no different than the commercial I've been seeing for Celebrex, in which the whole thing talks about the risks and ends up saying at the end that for some patients, the benefits actually outweigh the risks.  Their marketing reps should be fired.  =)
Crohn's Disease, Acid Reflux/Gastritis, Hypothyroidism, Endometriosis, Arthritis, Depression/Anxiety.  Too many meds to list them all.  =)

Kasper, your information is incorrect.  The biologics have killed people, although rarely.

First, there have been way more than eight cases of lymphoma resulting from biologics.  The eight cases you speak of, where the patient was taking a biologic along with 6MP, resulted in a rare, FATAL subtype of lymphoma that can not be treated.  There have been many, many more cases of treatable lymphomas - some fatal, some not - resulting from use of biologics.

Secondly, people on biologics have contracted infections that have become fatal.
