6 to 10 - 25.5%
11 to 15 - 4.3%
over 15 - 6.4%

Diarrhea appears to be a problem for many Crohn's patients.  How many bowel movements do you have in a typical day?  I know everyday is different for members here, so just use your average.

Some days I have no bowel movement (BM) in that day. But some days I could have 3-5 BM in a day.  Most of the time, I have 1 BM in one day.  So I voted 1 to 2.

Some days even when I have only one bowel movement in a day but if it is loose, I started to become a little worried.  I would like to see it formed.  So I would take precation in my diet when I have a loose BM.  If I have no BM in 2 days, I would eat a lot of vegetables/fruit to make it a move.

i didnt have D problems after starting the makers diet. i was dropping the kids off at the pool like 2-4 times per day, depending on the size of my meals and physical activity. but imho this is normal. you should be making a deposit after every meal. think about it - you need to evacuate the system to make room for the food you just ate. it is actually shown that your body is stimulated to lay some cable about a half an hour or so after a meal. i find it odd that the US medical community states constipation is sitting on the thrown less than 2 times per week. how was that number arrived at? the average person carpet bombs about 2 times per week. if it was set any higher, the majority of the country would be diagnosed as constipated. now i am surprised it isnt raised to at least 3 times per week cos then they could see us all more pills and drugs.

i had a colonoscopy in the middle of this past june. ever since then i've been having D that comes and goes every few days. the OTC clogger would work for a few days, and then it would return. now it doesnt see to work at all any more. looks like i need to see my GI cos some how that prep messed up my system. totally sucks. ugh.

I voted 1-2, because right now I'm on pred and not flaring. But when I flare it's more like 10 a day. When in remission it's usually 0, with the occasional bad day where I'll have one or two episodes of D.

Crazy - your post cracked me up. Love the references. And about the definition of constipation - I think it is odd too. One of my best friends goes 1/week. But she never feels sick and never feels the need to go more. Her doc said it is perfectly fine. I was shocked. I can't imagine how big a 1/week poop must be. Heaven forbid she ever have to do a scope prep.
26 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night. I also take a birth control pill to allow some fun in my life.

I voted 3-5, with 5 actually being my daily average. When there is a bump in the road I am usually up to 10x/day. When things are at their worst I would be in the 20x/day. I am actually happy when I only go about 3x/day.

You should have put one more field. "No two days the same". Every day is different for me. I'll go 2-3 days with nothing. Then have 6-8 butt pees. then the next day normal. Then back to nothing. It drives me nuts. I guess you might way I'm irregular. Heehee

Typically crohn's disease is associated with having D even though many do suffer with C or even alternating between the 2.

Mine are basically always formed (normal looking for the most part) but I still have issues with frequency which averages on 5/day but can be higher on any given day usually around/during my periods (which have a huge impact on my CD and IBS)...urgency is also another huge issue for me, even with formed BM's I cannot hold it.

My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it!  LOL  :)

There are times that it is over 30 times a day in my worse flare.

Maybe once a day, if even that. I've always been very "regular" and normal, which is always odd to me...

Normally I would vote C, but the past few weeks I've actually had at least 1 a day! Yeah me!!! Maybe this means I'm healthy right now??

I struggle with constipation most of the time, except during a flare...then it will be 15-20 times a day. .... but again... every day is different.... and sometimes I could have a normal poop, then teenie, tiny little grape size ones, then long pencil like ones, then D, the C , then ...on and on all in one day! Go figure!

I don't even know what's normal anymore. It's been 7 years since I was diagnosed, but even before that i have been going D since I was 8. I haven't ever been in remission. I would have to say there isn't a day that goes by that I don't go less than 15x a day. Most days it's the constant urge that bugs me more than the D. Getting used to D unfortunately :(
