I posted about a month back having pain on my right side along my ribcage.  I had an ultrasound and hida scan done.  hida scan had a low ejection rate of 21%.  ultrasound was clear, no stones.  went to a surgeon who said I would not get any better with having the gallbladder removed.  since than I developed pain in my lower side. at the same point, the pain in my rib cage has almost disappeared. my stool became loose and almost diareahha.   Had stool tested for C-Diff since I had been on Amoxycilin antibiotic for a month and a half.  stool came back negative for C-Diff.  GI put my on 500 MG on Flagyl 3 times a day.  I'm on the 4th day and the pain in 70-75% gone.  the bowel movements are starting to form again.  I'm convinced this is due to the over use of antibiotics.  My GI said that it's the Crohn's the Flagyl is calming this down so he wants me to continue the drug and see him in  3 weeks. I thought it was the gallbladder, but am feeling that this was preffered pain until things got worse with the C-Diff.   Has anyone had success with Flagyl as maintenance or any other symptoms I'm describing?  thank you

I love flagyl! It works well for my crohns, so yes, I'm sure that it is helping you. But if I were you, I would ask for another stool test to check again for the c-diff. My dr. always has me do 2 because of the false negatives.

Never have used it as a maintenance only during heavy flares. Wonderful for Crohns as is Cipro. However, the Flagyl treats me more wicked than I already am!
