My daughter has been taking Humira since January.  At first it was wonderful.  In May she started having sudden, severe abdominal pains (the pain is so bad it causes her to violently vomit).  She had  2 CT Scans and each showed that the crohns was actually healing.  Our GI said she could quit the Humira if she wants to but my daughter feels that these "attacks" are better than the way she was living before (fistulas, flares, bleeding, rectal incontinence). Has anyone else had this problem?  I want her to keep taking it if it is healing her gut.....but hate seeing these attacks. (She is 16)

Is it possible that she has a stricture?

Welcome Mountainview! we must have missed that you were a new member. tell us more about her. how long has she been sick? what have they tried? maybe she needs some other test than the ct scan? something is going on in there to cause that kind of pain. I am sorry for her. yp
49 y/o woman.  Diagnosed 4/06 after colonscopy, SBFT, CT-scan all showed crohns. 3 months later, after pred and remicade, all tests showed no crohns. December '06 had adhesions cut through a laparoscopy. Now taking Glycolax, Ultra Fiber Plus, Florastor, and DHEA. Have become gluten-free diet per naturopath's tests.

I have never had what you describe. I have been on Humira for two years now. It seems like something else might be going on with her. How often does she have these pains and the vomiting? I hope she gets well soon.

Sounds like obstruction pain to me. I would keep her on the Humira, but I would also get some more testing to see if she has a stricture. Good luck!
