Irish63 - I don't have Bechet's but when I started developing mouth and genital ulcerations and in the hospital, my GI said that I might have Bechet's instead of Crohn's. Bechet's can cause ulcerations in the mouth, genitals and the colon. The rheumy didn't think so since Behcet's is so rare in the U.S. Turns out it is Crohn's and I had bone-marrow failure due to the 6-mp. I had done some research on Bechet's but there isn't much out there.

Have you had the prometheus test to verify if you have Crohn's? That is the only thing that made me and my GI 100% sure it was Crohn's.

Currently on 4000mg of Pentasa only for Crohn's

It is very rare but I have heard of it. And sometimes I wonder....

Thanks all.
And LBJ, that would be great.
update:
I saw my PCP today and he had received correspondence from new GI. PCP said "some docs want a completely clear cut dx with absolute evidence of such, however, Crohns (any IBD/autoimmune disease) is more often than not that clearcut. It isn't soemthing we can just run a test and have a concrete dx." He went on to say, "Bechet's is very rare and I would argue that you do not have Bechet's but Crohn's, afterall, you were dx by a GI with 40 years experience in a top notch teaching hospital".
All I know, is that I hate this illness, and I'm mad as hell right now and completely frustrated.

Vicky:  I'm not sure I have had that test but think I may have, I'll check it out. Thank you
