I had a resection of part of TI, I-C valve and colon (~12 inches altogether) in April. I have so much gas that I spend the majority of my day holding it in or trying to find ways to slip out at work to find an isolated place to pass it. I'll go for a walk, pass tons of gas, and a few minutes later, it starts all over again. I know it sounds like a trivial problem, but it really is uncomfortable and hard to concentrate on my job, when I'm so busy concentrating on not letting out a huge fart! I mentioned it to my internist recently, and he just asked if I tried Beano (doesn't work). I don't know if this is from the resection, or a return of this DD. Does anyone have any advice on dealing with this annoying problem?
50 y/o F. CD dx'd Aug 05. Initially on Pentasa, then Imuran 125 mg. Started Humira (very reluctantly) on 10/24/07. Ileocolectomy 4/08.

Ya the GI's aren't too helpful with the gas thing, are they? Have you tried probiotics? How about diet modification, like eliminating dairy and gluten?
Dx'ed in 1999. No surgeries.

Current meds: 75 mg 6MP. 10mg prednisone (trying to taper). Udo's Choice Probiotics (30 billion).
