Ok...so I have one bathroom in my very small house. I don't live alone. For quite a while now, like years, I've had problems with diarrhea, but as you all know the past few months for me have been hell when it comes to diarrhea. Last night I was actually trying to think of ways to get another bathroom in my house. We don't have anything like a small room or closet to be converted. I mean I was so bad I was even considering knocking down a wall and having professionals build me an addition for a bathroom. Crazy, right? Maybe we could make a bathroom in the basement, but that's tiny too. I'm sure some of you who only have one bathroom know the agony of hearing someone wants to use the bathroom or needs to shower/bathe. Lately I can't get to the bathroom fast enough. I just feel like this is making me think crazy thoughts. I don't have the money to add a bathroom anywhere in the house lol. Maybe I can buy one of those sheds to put in the backyard and start using it as an outhouse. eyes I hope they figure out what to do with me soon because this is driving me nuts! I'm miserable. sad

Hi Youcould look into a portable potty they use for trailers or camping. I used to have one a bit messy to clean but might take the pressure off. Even a trip to the basement might help . Sure hoping the test you get give you some answers soon. Have you started any yet. lol gail

I had my colonoscopy on Thurs. Will hopefully have answers when my test results come back in a little over a week. They took 6 or 7 biopsies of different areas plus removed a polyp. If nothing shows up there then it's down my throat we go with an endoscope. They won't treat me til they give a diagnosis apparently so I'm here suffering.

Also have considered the portable potty. *sigh*

the outhouse wouldn't probably work though...there's only a single car driveway's width between me and the neighbors plus a chainlink (see through) fence between yards. while it might be humorous to watch me run to the mysterious shed and not come out with tools or whatever I don't think the neighbors would appreciate the smell or sounds coming from said shed. lol. oy!

oh! I just thought of something else. I feel like I'm flushing part of my brain down the toliet lately. My brain is so foggy. I forget stupid stuff. Like names, things people have already told me, etc. I was on the phone tonight with a friend and I was asking questions I had already been given the answers to a few weeks ago. Maybe it's just because I'm so tired now and weak...it's just driving me insane!

you've got quite a laundry list of disorders/syndromes/diseases there, closure! i feel your pain with the D being an issue. when i lived at home i had 5 bathrooms to choose from, now that i have my own house i only have 2, and neither are terribly private. luckily i have a supportive fiance. good luck!

Hey closure. I just wanted to let you know that when we were looking at houses we saw a big house with one bathroom and in the basement there was a random toilet, connected to the pipes that run from the main bathroom. It was the installed by the previous owner as an emergency back up toilet. They hung something on the door to the basement when they were using it so no one would come down to do laundry or anything. That sounds like it wouldn't be that expensive. You would have to buy the toilet and just hire a plumber to do the hooking up, but no construction neccessary.

Also, I'm not sure if you are big or small but could you line an office size trash can with a trash bag, use that, and throw the bag out in the trash like you do w/ dog poop? I know it wouldn't be ideal but it would be better than pooping your pants. Also, I don't know how many people you live with but in college we used to use the toilet while the other roomies were showering. I know with what we do that would be kind of gross but again, better than pooping your pants. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
26 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night. I also take a birth control pill to allow some fun in my life.

thanks for the advice FitzyK23. I was thinking of doing the random toliet in the basement thing and just hanging a sheet or something up around it.

I'm definitely getting desperate so I'll definitely use your tips. thanks again *hugs*

No not crazy at all.... I think one bathroom for a Chronie would be a nightmare.
Before I knew I had CD Hubby and I (and my first son /he was a baby) had one bathroom. Hubby was showering I was holding the baby and asked him when he would be out and he said just come in. I hate going when someone is in there so I refused. And that was my first accident I can remember while holding my new son.... it sucked!!! It was not much but I was disgusted an hid it from hubby and he never knew.

I have went as far as thinking about a bucket in the basement for big emergencies when we had one bathroom :)

My boyfriend is the same way...if he's in the shower he says just come in, but I'm just not comfortable doing that. I mean we've been together for almost 3 years now so I should be comfortable doing it, but I'm not. If it came down to it I probably would, but I've been lucky. Where I haven't been lucky though is when he's actually using the bathroom...wouldn't it figure? I can make it when there's a toliet available, just not the most comfortable situation, but can't make it when there's no toliet available. I'm 27 and have a pack of depends in the closet now for really bad days. While I don't think they'd hold a lot at least I'm covered if I can't make it in time and just have a little accident...which I'm sad to say has happened twice recently so the expensive things have already paid for themselves.

ive been blessed in this regard: my only accidents have been caused by fart traps, and all while sitting in my room at home. "oh just a toot... oops."

there have been times where i had to rush my parents out of the bathroom, but i was able to hold it until they got out.
20, Male, diagnosed over Christmas Break of my Junior year in High School. BEST CHRISTMAS EVAR LOL
